An attorney for a Republican state senator from Oklahoma City facing felony child prostitution charges says his client plans to resign his seat by Wednesday.
During a heated town hall meeting last month, Shortey suggested a bill that would have changed drug laws (State Question 780 and 781) that were approved by Oklahoma voters last November citing worry about his own children's safety.
Shortey and the teen both told officers they had known each other for about a year, having met through Craigslist, according to the police report.
Turkish President Erdogan has 'gone too far' with Nazi jibe, Germany says
Turkey's foreign ministry expressed its displeasure to Germany's ambassador in Ankara, according to a statement by the ministry. Erdoğan's spokesperson Ibrahim Kalin said during an interview with CNN TURK that "Turkophobia is on the rise in Europe".
The investigation began in the early hours of March 9 when Moore police found Shortey with a 17-year-old boy in a motel room. "We are calling on him to make the right choice for the citizens of Senate District 44, as well the State of Oklahoma, and immediately tender his resignation from our august body".
The FBI conducted a search on Friday of Shortey's Oklahoma City home, FBI spokeswoman Jessica Rice confirmed. "Unfortunately at this time, I can not release more details as this is a sensitive ongoing investigation".
Officials with the Secret Service confirmed they are assisting Moore police in an investigation into Oklahoma Sen.

Shortey has not made any public comment about the incident. He was released on a $100,000 bond.

Puerto Rico has done some serious work on the mound and in the batter's box to reach this semifinal game against the Netherlands . He now has an average of.389 in five games, hitting two home runs and driving in four.
But senators have not voted to expel Shortey, which would take a two-thirds vote, so he will continue to draw his $38,400 annual salary. The Oklahoma Senate has voted to punish Shortey, who police say was fo. Shortey also will likely be eligible to collect his state retirement, even if he is convicted of the charges.
