Trump Draws the Line: It's 'Hollywood vs. Georgia' in June Runoff Election

She treated Trump gingerly throughout the campaign in a district he barely won in November, but the president called to congratulate her Wednesday morning and Handel said she hoped he'd campaign for her. "It is now Hollywood vs. Georgia on June 20th".

Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff tried to make the Georgia special election all about President Donald Trump but didn't fare much better than former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton did in 2016.

Actor Samuel L. Jackson recorded a 45-second radio ad endorsing Ossoff that ran for several days before the election.

Luis Enrique haunted by first half of Juventus, Barcelona first leg
The four teams will face off over the span of two weeks in May with the matches being played as usual on Tuesday and Wednesday. In the El-Clasico, Barça will come up against the BBC everyone knows, Bale , Benzema and world player of the year, Cristiano.

Ossoff has pitched himself as a check on Trump and an opponent to Washington gridlock. "If we can get over 50 percent in this district, we know we can do that statewide and around the country", Porter said, mocking Republican assertions that Ossoff failed Tuesday by falling short of an outright primary victory.

Trump earned the lowest percentage of votes compared to any other Republican presidential candidate in recent history with 48.3 percent. Nevertheless, Mr Ossoff's strong showing offered proof of a re-energised Democratic base that could fire up a a torrid fight for the Congress mid-term elections next year, said analysts.

Still, the close finishes in Georgia as well as conservative Kansas underscored Democrats' potential to capitalize on surging liberal energy following Trump's election, even as they also pointed to the limits of how far Democrats can go in Republican-friendly districts.

Trump to meet Italian premier ahead of G-7 meeting in Italy
Trump plans to attend a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation meeting in Belgium next month before the G-7 gathering in Italy. The EU has been a constant target, and Le Pen has called for a referendum similar to last year's Brexit vote.

Mr Ossoff grew up in the district and says he will move back if he wins. Through phone, email contacts, and social media, National Right to Life Victory Fund reached out to identified pro-life households in the district encouraging them to vote against Jon Ossoff, who supports a policy of abortion on demand, and supports using tax dollars to pay for abortion.

"It does tell you this is the kind of seat that Democrats would and should focus on", he told CNN. "They were clear going into this election that their goal was to get over 50 per cent, so they came up short", said Mr Spicer. "No, they lost!" Spicer said.

The nearest Republican - former state secretary of state Karen Handel - came in at just 19.8 per cent. But he fell short of the majority needed to win outright.
