Dyer said he doesn't think the suspect's desire to kill stemmed from religious views, but rather racist views.

Police had put out a news release hours before the shootings Tuesday, saying that Muhammad was armed and risky and wanted in the shooting death of a security guard at a Motel 6 last week.
