Woods announced Thursday that he had fusion surgery the day before, with the aim to alleviate pain in his lower back and leg, as well as muscle spasms.
After his fourth back surgery since April 2014, Tiger Woods is focused on one thing: returning to a "healthy, active lifestyle", his agent says.
A statement on the former world No 1's website said the surgery had been carried out by Dr Richard Guyer, of the Centre for Disc Replacement at the Texas Back Institute.
The 41-year-old said he hoped that the latest operation would ease pain in his back and legs caused by damage to a disc, allowing him to resume his career.
North Korea Displays New Missiles
The Washington Post reported that the missile has a theoretical range of 7,500 miles, enough to reach all of the United States. It blew up nearly immediately, complicating efforts to identify the missile's size and range.
According to the statement the 14-times major victor will rest for several weeks before beginning therapy and treatment and, while each procedure and case is unique, patients typically return to full activity in about six months. "Some individuals are born with one less vertebrae, which would be similar to someone who had a single-level fusion", Guyer added.
Woods will rest several weeks before beginning rehabilitation. If that holds true, Woods would miss all four major championships for the second consecutive year.
Woods explained the situation on his official website, explaining that "full activity" can be generally expected again after six months of rehabilitation. The end goal was to relieve pressure on the nerve allowing it a chance to heal, a statement from Woods' website said.
Now ranked 788 in the world, Woods has been able to make only three worldwide starts in the past 20 months due to the ongoing injury issues, which also forced him to withdraw from the Omega Dubai Desert Classic in February.
Chelsea, Tottenham dominate PFA Team of the Year
There looks to be a formula to stop Chelsea , provided opponents have the personnel to achieve it, and Spurs clearly do. The Italian said: " Tottenham are a really great power in English football, they are working for three years".
When Woods returned to golf in December at the Hero World Challenge, he looked rejuvenated in a 24-birdie performance.
It nearly wasn't as nice for McDowell, who's won twice on the PGA Tour since his U.S. Open title at Pebble Beach seven years ago.
This is the fourth procedure Woods has had on his back since 2014. "I have good days and bad days".
Woods has not won a major tournament since the 2008 U.S. Open, and has not won a PGA event of any kind since the 2013 Bridgestone Invitational.
