Celta plan more pain for exhausted Man Utd

08 May 2017

Manchester United are yet to move into "top gear" in their Europa League campaign, according to the former England manager Glenn Hoddle. Back in the lineup are Paul Pogba, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, Eric Bailly and perhaps Juan Mata.

It was a relatively tiresome game in a full Balaidos Stadium on Thursday night, but the English side probably deserved the win after creating more chances against a rival they were able to stifle for long parts of the game, reports Xinhua news agency.

Yesterday we were treated to an incredible match-up in the other Europa League semifinal.

That result left Jose Mourinho's men outside of the top four and knowing that winning the Europa League this season may now represent their best chance of Champions League qualification.

"It's not a problem to go there and attack because at the end of the day I don't think the Man United fans are going to be happy with Man United just sitting back and doing nothing".

Emmanuel Macron declared French president in early vote counts
Turnout was expected to be historically low though, with many voters feeling alienated by the choice of these two candidates. On Monday, May 8th, interior minister Matthias Fekl will officially announce the result of the presidential election.

"Unfortunately we've been in the Europa League this year but hopefully we get to the final".

Celta, by contrast, have had the luxury of resting up Eduardo Berizzo's preferred XI for the majority of their recent La Liga games as the Galicians concentrate on trying to win a first ever major trophy.

Manchester United are in pole position to reach the Europa League final after winning the away leg of their semi-final against Celta Vigo.

"They're a team who score a lot of goals and they don't seem to mind getting physical".

The other semi-final. The two other teams battling it out for a place at the Friends Arena on 24 May are Ajax and Lyon, who meet on Wednesday night at the Amsterdam ArenA (kick-off 17:45 BST).

French election: Le Pen to be crushed by Macron, early results show
Emmanuel Macron has been hailed as France's new president after exit polls gave him a clear victory over far-right Marine Le Pen. Socialist Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuze said France had chosen to retain its place at the heart of Europe.

The 19-year-old has stepped up in the absence of injured top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with his rise showing no signs of abating given the improvements in his overall game.

"The Champions League is massive and United should be there".

His trusty back-four held strong again and Ander Herrera - whose father Pedro once played for Celta - did a more than capable job of anchoring the midfield while Pogba powered forward at every opportunity.

Top scorer Alexandre Lacazette and French worldwide Corentin Tolisso have travelled with the squad, but are both doubtful.

Head of Islamic State in Afghanistan killed
The U.S. military statement said 35 Islamic State fighters and several high ranking commanders were killed in the April 27 raid. Hasib's group, which the military calls Islamic State-Khorasan, is affiliated with the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
