Concussed Crosby skates with Pens on off day

Pittsburgh Penguins' captain Sidney Crosby skated in full gear this morning at the team's practice facility in Cranberry, according to head coach Mike Sullivan.

Pittsburgh coach Mike Sullivan announced Thursday that the Penguins captain has been upgraded to day-to-day after being reevaluated and his status for Saturday's Game 5 showdown against the Capitals remains undetermined. "We'll leave it at that".

Crosby suffered a concussion when he was cross-checked in the head by Capitals defenseman Matt Niskanen.

He missed the second half of the 2010-11 season and most of 2011-12 with a concussion. Crosby needed to be helped off the ice to the Penguins locker room for evaluation and did not return to the game.

Crosby has dealt with multiple concussions during his career, including one against Washington in the 2011 Winter Classic that he needed almost two years to fully recover from.
