House Republicans fielding questions from constituents over their bill repealing and replacing Obamacare are getting some cover from GOP-aligned groups on the airwaves and online. "Moreover, we saw the number of Republican voters who strongly support the bill drop from 36 percent last week to 27 percent this week".
I have always believed, however, that Obama was prescient in seeing that the ACA would have a larger impact that would be hard if not impossible to erase, no matter what Republicans did to the law itself: It established the principle that health care, as Obama said in accepting the "Profile in Courage" award at the John F. Kennedy Library on Sunday, is "not a privilege but a right for all Americans". His top concern was that the bill would provide tax relief to families making $250,000 or more per year, whilst cutting Medicaid programs-totaling an estimated $6 billion of relief and $880 billion in cuts over a 10-year period.
There has always been a clamorous resistance from the GOP against the health care plan Obama introduced when in office.
The Senate Finance and Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committees technically have jurisdiction over the health insurance legislation and typically would play a major role in conducting hearings and drafting language for the bill. But any bill would still have to be reconciled with the House version, a process that could take awhile. "I think they are opening up those meetings, I don't even know if they had any closed meetings". "It's going to take a little bit of time". They are the engine of job creation in the United States, they understand how harmful Obamacare has been to business. "You will winnow out all the ultra-leftists, the anarchists, all the people who want to disrupt the town hall".
However, the GOP bill also has an enormous loophole in that regard.
US Secretary of State meets Russian Foreign Minister in Washington
Lavrov had briefly greeted journalists alongside Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Wednesday morning. White House officials insist the decision had nothing to do with the Russian Federation investigation.
Having said that, there is a good possibility that over 100,000 Minnesotans and 24 million Americans over all are likely to lose their health care due either to cuts in services, or increases in health insurance.
The TV ads are airing in 21 congressional districts, including those of House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy; Freedom Caucus founding member Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio; and Tuesday Group Co-chairman Tom MacArthur, R-N.J., who authored the amendment that ultimately earned conservatives' support for the bill. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin said he also would join the group. But remember this, President Trump was quoted saying, We will not touch medicare. Myself and the rest of the members of AARP will do everything we can to hold his feet to the fire on that one!
But more moderate Republicans argued that refundable tax credits in the House bill were inadequate - largely because the tax credits were based on age, not income.
So let's not spend too much time worrying about what Republicans did in the House last week without any help from Democrats. But the health-care bill simply can not amount to nothing on the one hand and deal a fatal blow to the entire Republican Party and be a plague on the population on the other.
Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is defending a health care working group in the Senate that has no female members.

"Rebuilding his Congress works?"
From the start, the republican party has sought to dismantle ObamaCare. "I've worked on health care for many years".
The almost 20 million people who now have health insurance because of Obamacare aren't willing to give it up, nor should they be. "Congressman Brat, how could you do this to us?" Replacing it with the American Health Care Act would be bad for so many Americans. It also would include projections of how the legislation will affect health insurance premiums and the federal budget deficit.
Under the plan, only patients who live in states that are granted waivers and allow their coverage to lapse for more than 63 days would be subject to higher premiums. "And the New York Times' Charles Blow similarly weighed in with the wild overstatement that "(w) hatever eventually comes of the bill, the death threat it poses for many Americans may well be a death wish Republicans have just issued for their own careers".
