Former reality TV star sentenced to life in prison for rape

Will Hayden, a Louisiana gunsmith who previously starred in a reality show about his custom firearms business, has been sentenced to life in prison for rape, The Advocate newspaper of Baton Rouge reported Thursday.

He will not be eligible for parole, probation or a suspended sentence.

In Livingston Parish, Hayden is scheduled for trial July 10 on another aggravated rape count, from the same 15 year old girl that is one of his two accusers in the Baton Rouge case. Later she and Hayden's older victim cried and hugged inside the state courtroom, the Advocate reported.

The accusations and Hayden's arrest led to the cancellation of the television show. He is still facing another two charges - one related to the same younger victim and another related to his own daughter, Stephanie Hayden. Other scenes showed the process of making the guns, images from firing ranges and ammunition tips.

The younger victim - now 15 - testified that she was repeatedly raped back in 2013 and 2014. A conviction of aggravated rape comes with a mandatory sentence of life in prison.

She told Dr. Phil that Hayden may have other victims.

Hayden's convictions came at the time National Crime Victims' Week was being observed, according to East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney, Hillar Moore III.

Back in April, she testified that Hayden had raped her for the first time at just 12 after smoking marijuana in his apartment the early 1990's.
