Windows 10 gets chummy with Apple, iTunes in next version

13 May 2017

Microsoft is bringing OneDrive Placeholders with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. It displays a timeline of the tasks you have done for the past day or days, allowing you to jump back to an old task or app with a click. It will be displayed in all of a user's connected devices, including Apple iOS and Google Android, not just Windows 10.

In another concession to the popularity of Apple's products, iTunes software will be added to the Windows Store - an announcement that evoked some of the loudest cheers in Thursday's crowd. Plus, Microsoft is working on a UWP Azure app for Windows 10 devices. That's because the company recently introduced Windows 10 S, a new version of Windows 10 that can only run apps from the Windows Store.

All this for the brilliant price of: free.

Microsoft wants to make it easier for you to use your iPhones and Android phones at work - as part of a broader plan for continued office dominance that it outlined on the second day of its annual developers conference Thursday.

The opposition leader was at pains to counter the widespread observation in commentary that this was "a Labor budget". Labor would also oppose the budget plan to give a tax break for people saving for their first home.

While a desktop iTunes app has been available from since the early iPod days (2003 to be precise), the arrival of a Windows Store app is significant.

Enhancements to the widely used operating system to roll out later this year are created to make applications built on Microsoft technology work more harmoniously across an array of internet-linked devices, according to demonstrations given at the company's Build developers conference in Seattle.

However, the Fall Update is expected to have a much bigger impact for users compared to the Creators Update, which mainly offers system and security improvements.

Notable bugs include the persistent issue with Surface Pro 3 devices failing to update if an SD card is inserted; the inability to log in to Facebook, Instagram, or Messenger via their respective apps; and the Windows Defender Application Guard failing to work on touch-enabled PCs. It's sneaking on iOS and Android devices. In Timeline, you can easily search for keywords and find information on all devices of the user, even if he opened a file on only one of them.

However, we await the final decision considering the extra efforts put in by PCB to break the shackles and re-initiate the Indo-Pak ties.

But the behaviour could be error-prone-apps could attempt to open the placeholder files created by OneDrive rather than the files themselves-and it could create confusion about which files were actually available offline. Both those companies have helped undercut the popularity of PCs running on Windows.

Microsoft has officially announced the next major update for Windows 10 set to land later this year.

Other changes include tweaks to OneDrive for on-demand file access and a new clipboard that allows you to copy content on one device and paste it on another. Microsoft showed how AI technology picks the best clips and photos and puts them together, and how the user can tweak that to focus on one person or ink text on a person that stays with them as the video continues. With Files On-Demand, you can get access to all your files in the cloud without having to download them and use storage space on your device.

If that name is underwhelming, so is the news that the rumors about separating Edge from the OS so that Edge could be updated more frequently are not true.
