Warriors make light work of Jazz in Game 1

16 May 2017

The Golden State Warriors sure did theirs, using that up-tempo, pass-happy style to run right by the Utah Jazz in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals.

In the second quarter of Utah's playoff game against Golden State, Gobert was spun like a top by the Warriors' Steph Curry.

Knocking off any of the rust that might have accumulated in seven days off leading into the series, the Warriors shot 48.8 percent against a Utah team that was playing barely 48 hours after having dispatched the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 7 of their first-round series Sunday.

All-Star forward Gordon Hayward scored 12 points, but shot just 4 of 15.

The Warriors look to take a commanding 2-0 series lead when they host Utah in Game 2 on Thursday night.

Forward Kevin Durant had 17 points, center Zaza Pachulia scored 10, shooting guard Klay Thompson dropped in 15 and point guard Stephen Curry led all scorers with 22 points.

But that handful of seats, mostly in Metro Vancouver, has changed the landscape of the whole province. "Voters know best. Weaver has proven himself to be a pragmatist who has supported Liberal budgets - something Horgan criticized him over.

The Jazz quickly closed the gap to seven in the third quarter, but within a minute, they were staring back up at a 14-point deficit.

In game 5, Hayward scored 27 points on 9 of 16 from the field, 4 of 8 from 3, and a flawless 5 for 5 from the free throw line, along with 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.

"They change ends quickly", Jazz coach Quin Snyder said. Game 2, however, should be more of the same for the NBA's best team.

"Truthfully, I wouldn't point to that game as a barometer or example of success for us", Snyder said before Game 1 on Tuesday. Those signs all point to a blowout win for the Dubs. "I just want us to be good. We have the rest of our staff and that's what we're rolling with", said Green.

With head coach Steve Kerr still gone from the team with symptoms from back surgery, the Warriors didn't miss a beat Tuesday night.

"They're a fast-breaking team and we're basically not", Utah's Joe Johnson said.

North Korea detains another USA citizen: state media
Last year's party congress, the first one in more than 30 years, was a venue for Kim to reaffirm his unfettered rule. The defector, who now lives in South Korea, said he's anxious that Kim's regime might decide to attack his new home.

There was little suspense in this one, as Golden State spent the entire fourth quarter up by at least ten points and were up by 19 with 9:31 left in the game.

How fitting much of the "We Believe" team was in the house one day shy of the 10-year anniversary of eighth-seeded Golden State's first-round upset of the No. 1 seed Mavericks.

Jazz forward Joe Ingles, an Australian who has played in Utah for the last three seasons, jokingly suggested that Warriors players rent a jet to fly to LA or use his auto to drive to Las Vegas.

Trey Lyles and Joel Bolomboy are both young, exciting prospects for the Utah Jazz even though Lyles really struggled this season when given the opportunity and Bolomboy bounced around from the D-League to the Jazz all season long.

The Warriors swept the Blazers in the opening round where every game was high scoring. Curry didn't even need to play in the final 12 minutes. Golden State and Utah have met three times in the postseason, with the Warriors winning twice.

BUDGET 2017: Government to introduce levy for foreign workers
Banks face a liquid coverage ratio (LCR) that aims to ensure they have sufficient assets on hand to cover short-term outflows. The 0.06-percentage-point levy on money the big banks borrow to fund their lending excludes deposits of less than $250,000.
