Anthony Weiner to plead guilty in sexting case

19 May 2017

The disgraced former Democrat politician, 52, is being investigated over his online communications with a 15-year-old girl in North Carolina.

The New York Times first reported that the former New York Democratic congressman would enter the plea Friday in Manhattan. "Through treatment I found the courage to take a moral inventory of my defects".

Finished speaking, he wiped his eyes with tissues.

Weiner was already in federal custody ahead of the hearing, which lasted less than a half hour. Afterward, he shook hands with prosecutors, telling them: "Thanks, guys".

At all these tournaments the winning team will be promoted to the next level and no team will be relegated. However, the gap between the third and 15th team is not that big anymore.

Weiner declined to speak to reporters as he left the courthouse.

The outlet reported that the girl said she reached out to Weiner last January on Twitter.

Abedin announced her separation from Weiner last summer after a new round of explicit messages emerged that included an image of Weiner's crotch as he lay in bed with their young son. She said that Weiner, then 51, carried out a monthslong sexually explicit conversation with her in which he asked her to undress and sent her semiclothed photos of himself.

Schaefer would not confirm if the plea was part of a deal.

The investigation infamously intersected past year with the 2016 presidential campaign, when agents seized devices and found emails between Hillary Clinton and Huma Abedin, Weiner's estranged wife and a top Clinton adviser.

That inquiry was brief. The FBI has obtained a warrant to begin reviewing newly discovered emails that may be relevant to the Hillary Clinton email server investigation, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press.

Clinton, who was leading in national polls at the time, has blamed her loss to Republican Donald Trump in part on Comey's announcement, even though he said two days before the election in November that the review had uncovered no new evidence.
