President Trump on Thursday denied ever asking FBI Director James B. Comey to back off his agency's investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation, as well as into the role played by former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
"While the president has repeatedly expressed his view that General Flynn is a decent man who served and protected our country, the president has never asked Mr Comey or anyone else to end any investigation, including any investigation involving General Flynn", a White House statement said.
But said he respects the decision Wednesday (May 17) by his Justice Department to appoint former FBI Director Robert Mueller as a special counsel for a probe that has enveloped the White House in a political storm.
Mueller is taking over a sprawling investigation into links between the Trump camp and Russian Federation from the former FBI director James Comey, who the president fired abruptly on May 9.
Republicans are starting to defy Trump on Russian Federation
House remain cautious on the calls for an independent prosecutor to probe the Trump campaign's ties to Russian Federation . And the other biggest problem is there haven't been many successes on the legislative level for the Congress.
Trump began the day by tweeting that he is the victim of "the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history", a claim ignoring impeachment efforts and blistering verbal attacks on previous presidents and other political leaders.
"It shows we're a divided, mixed-up, not-unified country", Trump told the group.
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed Mueller after a succession of jarring developments that brought questions over Russia's alleged meddling in the election and possible collusion by the Trump campaign to a boil.
"I think it is totally ridiculous". McCabe has replaced Comey, who was sacked last week by Trump.
Watch Cristiano Ronaldo score record-breaking goals in La Liga — Real Madrid
With that win, Los Blancos will clinch La Liga if they can just avoid defeat in their last game away to Malaga. Malaga could be tricky because it has been in strong form recently.
"No. No. Next question", Trump responded curtly to a reporter during a news conference with Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos on Thursday afternoon. And Senate Finance Chairman Orrin Hatch said of ending interest deductibility: "I don't think, in the final analysis, they're going to be able to do that". Then-Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation James Comey testifies in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee during an oversight hearing on the FBI on Capitol Hill May 3, 2017 in Washington, DC. Who at the Department of Justice, including AG Sessions, knew of the memo and possible obstruction attempt? Putin made light of the matter at a news conference in Russian Federation, saying Moscow was ready to hand a transcript of the meeting to USA lawmakers if that would help reassure them. After meeting with his Republican counterpart as well as Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and White House economic adviser Gary Cohn, Wyden said he wasn't reassured. That would surely include Trump's firing last week of FBI Director James Comey.
Trump and his national security team say the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, or SDF, is the most effective battlefield partner against the Islamic State in northern and eastern Syria.
"Walls work. Just ask Israel", he said, ending that line of questioning.
WikiLeaks source Chelsea Manning released from jail
These however were not classified as "top secret", and Manning is seen as a whistleblower by her supporters. During Manning's trial in 2013, testimony showed that she had been deteriorating, mentally and emotionally.
The White House has denied reports that Trump pressed Comey to drop an investigation into Trump's first national security adviser, Michael Flynn.
