President Trump on Thursday denied ever asking FBI Director James B. Comey to back off his agency's investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation, as well as into the role played by former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

And Senate Finance Chairman Orrin Hatch said of ending interest deductibility: "I don't think, in the final analysis, they're going to be able to do that". That would surely include Trump's firing last week of FBI Director James Comey.

Trump and his national security team say the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, or SDF, is the most effective battlefield partner against the Islamic State in northern and eastern Syria.

"Walls work. Just ask Israel", he said, ending that line of questioning.
