'GREATEST WITCH HUNT IN US HISTORY' | Trump slams Russian Federation ties probe

19 May 2017

Hours after FBI Director Robert Mueller was appointed a special counsel to further investigate any links between Trump's presidential campaign and Russian Federation following the firing of FBI Director James Comey, Trump took to Twitter.

Trump has made similar complaints before, but this one came the day after the Justice Department appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller to lead the federal Trump-Russia investigation.

Zeidenberg says he agrees with the wide array of Congress members who believe appointing the special counsel was the correct move to further the investigation following the firing of FBI director James Comey.

Yesterday, shortly before Mr Trump's press conference at the White House, Mr Rosenstein briefed the entire U.S. senate on Capitol Hill, a previously-scheduled engagement. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham shared, "It was a counterintelligence investigation before now".

Asked if he thought he had done anything to warrant criminal charges or impeachment as some on the left have demanded, the Republican president replied: "I think it's totally ridiculous".

Talks between Israel and the Palestinians have stalled in recent years - the most recent round fell apart in April 2014. Secretary of Defense James Mattis will accompany Trump for a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation meeting and dinner.

In the memo, Rosenstein wrote that the FBI director had violated long-standing Justice Department practices in his handling of the bureau's investigation of Clinton's use of a private email server when she was secretary of state. He said Rosenstein's answer wasn't clear. But several changed their mind after The New York Times reported that the President asked Mr Comey to drop an investigation into former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, according to a memo reportedly written by Mr Comey.

Special counsels are a tricky thing, and should be avoided whenever possible.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, said, "It's now considered a criminal investigation and Congress's ability to conduct investigations of all things Russian Federation has been severely limited - probably in an appropriate way".

Trump claimed that the report on Comey's memo was not true. According to polling, almost 8 in 10 Americans agreed that a special prosecutor should be appointed, remarkable for a country so politically divided. "If I were Mr. Mueller, I would jealously guard the witness pool". Claire McCaskill, D-Missouri, said, after leaving a closed-door briefing with Rosenstein for the full Senate on Capitol Hill.

"The commission brings an independent body completely removed from political considerations to give the public the confidence to know that body will follow the facts wherever they may lead", Schiff said.

At left is Predators head coach Peter Laviolette. "It was an exciting game, an exciting series, and now we're on to the next one". Defensively, the Nashville Predators are allowing 2.7 goals per game and are killing 80.9 percent of their opponents power plays.

The rumored front-runner for the position is former Democratic Sen.

As it stands, there are at least four congressional committees looking into roughly the same topic as Mueller: the House and Senate Intelligence Committees, the Senate Judiciary Committee and the House Oversight Committee.

Mueller's broad mandate gives him not only oversight of the Russian Federation probe, but also over "any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation".
