Melania Trump makes her global debut as first lady

19 May 2017

Trump will depart Washington on Friday for his first worldwide trip as president, which will include stops in the Middle East and Europe.

The concert will coincide with President Donald Trump's first overseas visit since taking office, the Associated Press reports. The country superstar is headed to Saudi Arabia this weekend to perform during Trump's first official state visit.

Adel al-Jubeir said on Thursday that Trump meeting this weekend will reinforce the "strategic partnership" between Riyadh and Washington in its fight against Islamic extremism.

"I am very excited", the first lady said.

White House fights reports over Trump asking Comey to end Flynn probe
The person who described the Comey memo was not authorised to discuss it by name and spoke on condition of anonymity. And that, they said, could lead down a road that ends with the president's ouster - but that the facts aren't in yet.

The foreign minister said the visit would also play an important role in improving relations with participating Muslim countries.

The speech is a high-risk, high-reward opportunity, but is hard to get right, said Jonathan Finer, who served as director of policy planning for former secretary of state John Kerry. Though Pope Francis has said he'd "never make a judgment about a person without hearing him out", others on the continent have sharply criticized Trump. Saudi diplomats tried to downplay sources of friction in the relationship, including Trump's anti-Muslim campaign statements, his travel ban from six Muslim countries (not including Saudi Arabia) and a bill passed by Congress over President Obama's veto a year ago that allows victims of terrorism to sue the Saudi government. Trump, whose denunciations of Iran have been welcomed by the Saudis, wants to frame the conflict not as one between the West and Islam, but simply between good and evil, according to his aides.

The kingdom wants Trump to align USA interests with Saudi Arabia's - and is literally counting down the seconds until Trump starts his meetings Saturday.

Foreign leaders are playing a guessing game trying to determine whether Trump's positions will veer in a more radical direction favored by his controversial chief strategist, Stephen K. Bannon, who's pressed for the dismantlement of the Iran nuclear deal, the end of the One China policy, and the transfer of the US embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv.

Time is running out to register to vote
ANYONE who wants to have a say on who will be the Isle of Wight's next MP, must be registered to vote by midnight on Monday. That means if your 18th birthday falls on June 8 2017 or earlier, you can still vote in this general election.

While Saudi Arabia's restrictions on freedom and ban on women driving often grab headlines, Trump is not expected to make human rights concerns a centerpiece of his talks with Saudi royals on Saturday.

As a result, Trump will head into his trip, an ambitious first stride across the global stage, pursued by a political maelstrom at home and facing questions from foreign leaders about the viability of his government.

"Is this a first lady that will be called on to be an advocate for U.S. foreign policy now and in the future?" It is also where Fox's Baier is confirmed as a speaker.

The first stop on President Donald Trump's first overseas trip is Saudi Arabia. But, she does have one thing going for her: the Melania mystique.

EPL: Mourinho sweating over Fellaini injury after Manchester United draw
Mourinho told his prematch news conference: "Paul [Pogba] is fine, a strong guy, a strong mentality". Again, his feelings aren't bad, but let's wait. "So I think it's a bit unfair.
