Putin Offers Congress Record of Trump's Meeting With Lavrov

The Associated Press and Reuters reported that Putin is willing to hand over the records of the president's conversation with Russia's foreign minister and ambassador, if the White House approves.

Speaking at a news conference alongside Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni, Putin quipped that Lavrov had not passed what he said were the non-existent secrets onto him either. National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster called Trump's discussion with Russian diplomats "wholly appropriate".

On Tuesday, the Times revealed that the US gained the information, which concerned a possible plot by the Islamic State militant group to blow up planes using laptops, from Israel.

Putin said Wednesday that "political schizophrenia" has gripped Washington following revelations about Trump's intelligence disclosure and subsequent reports that the president encouraged then-FBI director James Comey to close the bureau's investigation into former National Security Advisor Mike Flynn.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has dismissed the ongoing scandal around President Donald Trump sharing classified intelligence with Russian officials as "political schizophrenia".

The intensifying drama comes as Mr Trump is set to embark on Friday on his first foreign trip, which had been optimistically viewed by some aides as an opportunity to reset an administration floundering under an inexperienced president.

Meanwhile, as if to add insult to injury, Russian news outlet Vesti asked, "What is there for Russian hackers, when the American president himself shares secrets with Russia!"

The White House quickly denied the report, saying in a statement it was "not a truthful or accurate portrayal of the conversation between the president and Mr. Comey".

Russia's state-run TASS agency confirmed that Putin offered to release minutes of the talks between Trump and the Russian envoy during their May 10 meeting at the White House. There are "a number of encounters with the president that concerned him, and he wrote very detailed memos about those instances", the person said. "I have people brief me on great intel every day", just before revealing the intelligence.

The fresh USA crisis sank the dollar early Wednesday as well as Hong Kong stocks amid worries that Trump's economy-boosting and tax-cutting agenda could be derailed, with some experts mentioning possible impeachment.

He dismissed US politicians - unnamed - as either being "stupid" or "dangerous and unscrupulous" who are wittingly "causing the damage to their own country".

Fox News, meanwhile, has done whatever it takes to minimize the damage resulting from the latest story regarding former FBI Director James Comey's alleged memos - ones which reportedly contain dialogue he had with Trump about the ongoing investigation into the president's Russian Federation ties.
