Former Sen. Joe Lieberman testifies on behalf of David Friedman in front of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on February 16. Ryan said Congress "can't deal with speculation and innuendo" and m. The president's tweets and comments to the TV anchors drew little reaction from fellow Republicans, who instead joined Democrats in heaping praise on Mueller, a longtime respected lawman who served under George W. Bush and Barack Obama, preceding Comey as head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Lieberman was the first Democratic senator to criticize former President Bill Clinton publicly during the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

"I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go", Trump told Comey, according to a memo Comey wrote at the time, excerpts of which leaked to reporters on Tuesday.

The White House has said Mr. Trump could name a new director as soon as Friday before he leaves for his first trip overseas with stops in the Middle East and Europe.

Trump, dogged by questions at home, makes first trip abroad
The summit, the site says, "will renew Saudi Arabia and US commitments to global security, business, cultural & political ties". This episode is short but sweet-and a good overview of the key issues on the agenda during Trump's first foreign foray.

Nonetheless Comey was the man in demand on Capitol Hill, with three committees working to seat him at their witness tables soon, two in the Senate and one in the House.

"Director Comey was very unpopular with most people", Trump said.

But calmness seemed far off.

The firing drew instant criticism from both sides of the aisle, as Comey was overseeing the investigation into Russia's meddling in the 2016 U.S. election and any possible links between the Trump camp and Russian Federation during the campaign. "There was no collusion and everybody, even my enemies, have said there is no collusion".

However another answer on that subject seemed both more specific and perhaps ambiguous. "This is the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!"

With waiver, US lets Iran keep getting benefits of nuke deal
Analysts have said that his extension of the sanctions is indicative of his tacit intention to let the deal remain. He said the United States will never allow the regime in Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon.

"Special Counsel Mueller will have all appropriate resources to conduct a thorough and complete investigation, and I am confident that he will follow the facts, apply the law and reach a just result", said Rosenstein in the statement.

The Senate must confirm whomever Trump nominates for the job.

Comey's abrupt firing came as a shock last week, with competing explanations from the White House and the president as to what spurred the dismissal.

November 6, 2016: Comey tells Congress in a follow-up letter that a review of newly discovered Clinton emails has "not changed our conclusions" that she should not face criminal charges. Comey also says it made him feel "mildly nauseous" to think his actions in October might have influenced the election outcome. He says he wants to determine whether the president attempted to influence or impede the FBI's investigation into Flynn.

Rep. Jason Chaffetz said in a tweet Wednesday that he still hasn't spoken with Comey about testifying. He also disputed the administration's characterization of an investigation into potential coordination between Russian Federation and the Trump White House.

The title haul could still reach 16 if Chelsea beats Arsenal in the FA Cup final on May 27 to sign out with a double. It is important for me, it is important for the players.
