Cavaliers sweep Raptors, make National Basketball Association playoff history

20 May 2017

The Raptors can re-sign Lowry with his Bird rights, but they won't have much if any cap room to make sizable additions. So far in these playoffs, they have swept in and Toronto.

It might be a little easier to swallow having shown some fight in the latter two games, but no matter how it went down, or who was primarily responsible for it, a four game sweep is a tough series to end on. He missed Games 3 and 4 against the Cavaliers with a sprained ankle and now must decide whether he wants to continue to fall short against Cleveland in the National Basketball Association playoffs or take his chances with another team.

The Cavaliers are looking at four wins until their third straight Finals, and for LeBron it would be his seventh in a row which is absolutely mind blowing.

In a stat that I had to look at several times from several sources to make sure was accurate, the Cavaliers outscored the Raptors in fast break points by a 16-0 margin. The Rockets' 3-point shooting, a hallmark of their success in the regular season, got back on track Sunday when they made 19 of 43, led by six from Gordon.

"I didn't call or pressure him the first time, and he didn't do that to me", DeRozan said. Kyle Korver came off the bench and added 18 points, including 16 in the second quarter.

Iranians turn out in large numbers for closely watched vote
But if the leading candidates' votes were to be less than 50 percent, the lead and the runner-up would then go for a second round. Iranians overseas also will vote in over 300 locations, including 55 in the USA , where more than 1 million Iranians live.

Tucker opened the scoring in the fourth quarter with a 3-pointer to cut the lead to two points. No one has played a bigger role in that run than James.

DeRozan, who was coming off a career playoff high 37 points, went down in a heap in the second quarter after taking a knee to the groin from Iman Shumpert.

His current streak of NBA Finals appearances is already a total unmatched since the Boston Celtics dynasty of the 1960s. As the entire National Basketball Association world knows, that picture changed drastically on the heels of the Draymond Green suspension and the Cavs rose from the grave to rattle off three straight wins in the now legendary comeback victory.

"Any time you go against someone who wants to compete, you respect that", James said". "It happened. We got swept".

The Cavs are of course in the Eastern Conference finals for the third consecutive season.

It all starts with a team's star players, and Aldridge is the biggest one still standing for the ailing Spurs. "So, it was tough". He had 26 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals before heading to the locker room in the third.

LeBron James puts some emphasis on these two points, part of his 35-point afternoon in Toronto as the Cavaliers completed a series sweep of the Raptors.

James added nine rebounds and six assists.

3-Ball: The Cavs used the three-ball once again to ignite their offense. Assistant Mike Brown took over as acting coach for Game 3 of the first-round series against Portland.

Former Beacon Journal beat writer Jason Lloyd, now with The Athletic, deemed the rotation of LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, Kyle Korver and Deron Williams the "shooterpalooza lineup".

Turnovers: 10 (James 6, Thompson 2, Frye, Irving). Forwards Serge Ibaka and P.J. Tucker, acquired at the trade deadline to beef up Toronto's front line, are free agents. Toronto needed to be at its best to have a real shot in this series, and while they weren't even close, it might not have even mattered.

Trump congratulates Macron in post-election call: White House
Russian Federation is also accused of launching hacking attacks on Macron's campaign in an effort to support Le Pen's candidacy. Market reaction Monday to Macron's victory was subdued: investors were expecting it and seem wary of the difficulties he faces.

Asked to choose between the Celtics and Wizards, James claimed not to have a preferred opponent. The Celtics now lead, 2-1.
