Colorado's mountains get up to 42 inches of snow

As the storm system moved, it dropped heavy, wet snow that reached accumulations upwards of two feet in some spots.

Two to six inches of snow are expected to fall in Denver through Friday. Some rain is expected Friday morning with a daytime high around 60.

The calendar says we're almost two-thirds through the month of May, but it looked more like the middle of winter in and around the Rocky Mountains this week.

Heavy snow was falling early Thursday morning at the rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour in the foothills and the mountains, according to the NWS.
