United Nations calls on North Korea to stop missile tests

"Korean Workers' Party Chairman Kim Jong Un approved of its deployment in military units".

The U.N. Security Council strongly condemned North Korea's ballistic missile launch Monday and vowed to step up the pressure on Pyongyang in the face of its refusal to end banned weapons programs.

"Viewing the images of the Earth being sent real-time from the camera mounted on the ballistic missile, Supreme leader Kim Jong Un said it feels grand to look at the Earth from the rocket we launched and the entire world looks so attractive", the KCNA report said.

The United States, which has condemned repeated North Korean missile launches, said Sunday's launch of what North Korea dubbed the Pukguksong-2 was of a "medium-range" missile, and USA -based experts doubted the reliability of the relatively new solid-fuel type after so few tests.

The North has bragged that the missile test was aimed at verifying its capability of carrying "a large-size heavy nuclear warhead".

Smith said, "We're not committed to a PC date yet, but at Bungie we're totally committed to making a PC build as great as we can". September 8th is already nailed down as the launch date for both the Xbox One and PS4 versions, but Bungie are being coy with PC.

The Security Council will hold a closed-door emergency meeting on Tuesday at the request of Japan, South Korea and the United States to discuss further action in response to the latest missile test.

Experts said that rocket flew higher and for a longer time than any other missile previously tested by North Korea and represents another big advance toward a viable ICBM.

It called the missile, capable of reaching Japan and major United States military bases there, an "answer" to President Donald Trump's policies.

US -based experts said it would have a maximum range of about 1,500 km (930 miles) and questioned North Korea's assertion that the reliability of the solid-fuel missile had been proven, given limited testing.

Japan's chief Cabinet secretary, Yoshihide Suga, said on Monday it was important to cut North Korea's foreign currency earnings and to block shipments and technology transfers that aid North Korea's nuclear missile development. "Many more "Juche weapons" capable of striking the US will be launched from this land".

The rocket was sacked from an area near the North Korean county of Pukchang, in South Phyongan Province, and flew eastward about 310 miles, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said.

The data, according to Seoul, also indicated an increasingly solid weapons program in the rival country, Efe news reported.

UNITED NATIONS North Korea's deputy United Nations envoy said on Friday "it is ridiculous" to link Pyongyang with the WannaCry "ransomware" cyber attack that started to sweep around the globe a week ago or the hacking of a U.N. expert monitoring sanctions violations.

The second known firing of the Pukguksong-2 on Sunday appeared to confirm that trend.

Solid-fueled missiles come loaded with fuel and can be launched quickly after they are moved to a launch site, according to the Union of Concerned Scientists in Cambridge, Mass.

It also invalidated China's nine-dash line claim on its maps denoting sovereignty over most of the South China Sea . Last year, the Philippines won the case against China in the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in The Hague.

Because liquid-fueled missiles are easier to build, that is typically where countries begin, and North Korea is "still in (the) early stages of developing solid missiles", Wright said. That makes them easier to spot and easier to destroy.
