Predators Face Ducks For Game 6 In Nashville

24 May 2017

Pontus Aberg's first career postseason goal lifted the Nashville Predators to a 3-1 win in Game 5 of the Western Conference Final Saturday night against the Ducks in Anaheim.

But as the day wore on, the injuries kept mounting, with Nashville's Mike Fisher and Anaheim's Rickard Rakell also missing the game.

Nashville now heads home with a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series that continues on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Ducks appear to one step closer to the return of regular season 30-goal scorer Patrick Eaves. Through it all, left winger Filip Forsberg has set the table.

Now that it has happened, will we see more of the same? "We have won in Nashville before, and there is no reason we can not go into that building and win Monday".

The Predators are 10-1 at Bridgestone Arena the past two postseasons, and another record crowd is expected for what will be the biggest sporting event in Nashville history not counting the fans watching just outside the building.

Nashville had tied the score 1-1 on Wilson's power-play goal, his second goal of the playoffs, at 19:19 of the second period. His status is clouded after leaving Game 5 following the first period because of a lower-body injury. If anyone has a chance at bouncing back and winning the Western Conference Finals it is the Anaheim Ducks. I thought he played really well for us.

Things reached a critical peak when Ducks goalie John Gibson was stripped of the puck behind the net in the first period and fell awkwardly when rushing back to his net.

It was unclear exactly when Johansen suffered the injury, but he finished the game before further assessment of his condition led doctors to get involved.

"We have a lot of areas of concern off our performance tonight", Carlyle said. "We know we can count on him".

We get it. These are the playoffs.

That's all the Predators need to punch their first-ever ticket to the Stanley Cup Final.

Johansen was leading the team with 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) in the playoffs. This group has done it already, winning games they had to when extinction hovered over it. Games 3 and 4 in Edmonton.

Coach Peter Laviolette declined to give any details on Johansen's apparently serious injury before Game 5 against the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday night. He shared the club scoring lead with Arvidsson in the regular season, posting 61 points.

"To have any success against (Rinne), you're going to have to make life hard", Anaheim defenseman Cam Fowler said. F Miikka Salomaki also returned from five games off. F Nic Kerdiles made his third appearance of the postseason for Anaheim in Rakell's absence.

Mahal's surge came to a halt as the 13-time champ eventually caught him with a devastating superplex, then a power slam. The heart wants Sami Zayn to score another upset against the bigger opponent, but instead I'm going to go with my head.
