30 May 2017

Novak Djokovic has announced that Andre Agassi will coach him at the French Open. "Unfortunately this week you didn't win, but I'm sure as we get closer to Paris you'll be one of the favorites for the title". So he's gonna be there. We'll see what future bring We are both excited to work together and see where it takes us.

Djokovic was speaking after his defeat to Alexander Zverev in the final of the Italian Open as the young Russian clinched an impressive 6-4 6-3 victory.

"We don't have any long-term commitment", told the press.

With news leaked of a new coach in his box, Novak Djokovic talked about the hiring of Andre Agassi for his French Open title defense.

After parting with his first high-profile coach, Boris Becker, at the end of last season, Djokovic cleaned out the rest of his long-standing team early this month, parting with his longtime coach Marian Vajda as well as fitness coach Gebhard Phil Gritsch and physiotherapist Miljan Amanovic.

Zverev becomes the youngest Masters 1000 victor since a 19-year-old Djokovic won the Miami Open in 2007.

Victory ensured Zverev was crowned the youngest Masters champion since Djokovic himself in 2007, and ensured he will reach the world's top 10 for the first time.

Four-time champion Novak Djokovic picked up right where he left off in a rain-delayed Italian Open quarterfinal against Juan Martin del Potro, closing out a 6-1, 6-4 win Saturday to set up a semifinal later against Dominic Thiem. He finished the match with 16 winners and just 14 unforced errors. Rafael Nadal added Carlos Moya to his coaching team previous year and Kei Nishikori has worked with Michael Chang, while much of Andy Murray's recent success is owed to his strong relationship with Ivan Lendl.

"It's such an honour being on the court against one of the best ever players", he added.

It's unbelievable these two have never played yet, but it's a must-watch for tennis fans everywhere.

"Every day I'm just trying to work on my mental part, my physical, my tennis", Svitolina said. "Andre is someone that I have tremendous respect for as a person and as a player".

But he could not recapture his brilliance against Germany's Zverev, a 20-year-old who didn't have to face one break point in a final lasting one hour and 23 minutes.

While he did reach the 2016 U.S. Open final, he was eliminated in the third round at Wimbledon a year ago and in the second round of this season's Australian Open.

Neither player could engineer a break point in the second set, with Isner racing 5-0 up in the tie-break and forcing a decider despite seeing two of his three set points get away from him.

The 29-year-old reached the semi-finals of last week's Madrid Open Masters before the finals loss at Rome.
