Leonardo DiCaprio Speaks Out Against Donald Trump's "Careless" Withdrawal From Paris Agreement

French President Emmanuel Macron delivered a stinging rebuke to Donald Trump's decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris climate-change agreement on Thursday in an unprecedented English-language speech.

Analysts say the U.S. withdrawal from the Paris agreement will make it more hard for the world to reach the goals that it set for itself in the Paris agreement.

Trump's decision sparked an instant wave of indignation both at home and overseas, with Obama saying the move meant the USA was "joining a handful of nations that reject the future".

"This decision by President Trump to leave the Paris Accord is irresponsibly shortsighted and harmful to the United States", Sen.

"The EU deeply regrets the unilateral decision by the Trump administration to withdraw the USA from the Paris Agreement".

On Twitter, Cook further criticized Trump's move, tweeting: "Decision to withdraw from the #ParisAgreeement was wrong for our planet".

Republican House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce said, "It's now up to the administration to deliver a better deal". The US president said countries like China and India, which were leading polluters, were getting away with a partial deal.

The BBC's Rajini Vaidyanathan in Washington says the move will be welcomed by many Trump supporters, as for them this is less about science - and more about sending a signal to so-called global elites. He vowed during the election campaign to "cancel" the Paris agreement within 100 days of becoming president on January 20 in order to bolster U.S. oil and coal giant, which bankrolled his campaign.

In announcing that he was withdrawing the United States from the Paris climate accord, he turned the nation's clock back, striking a blow for head-in-the-sand ignorance and severing ties to the one agreement that gave hope to millions that nations would finally be able to work together to combat climate change.

"We will be impacted, so it is imperative that we take full note of what is happening and see how best we can ensure that the projects that we have been pursuing continue", she stated.

Moreover, the targets were voluntary, meaning that the United States had the freedom to alter its commitments without severing ties to the Paris accord. America's economy is boosted by following the Paris Agreement.

Thankfully, the response to Trump's announcement has been largely swift and severe.

It called the agreement a "misguided treaty".

USA allies around the world have expressed concern about what will happen if America pulls out of the agreement.

When pressed, the official said, "I have not talked to the president about his personal views on what is contributing to climate change".

While traveling overseas last week, Trump was repeatedly pressed to stay in the deal by European leaders and Pope Francis.

"China in recent years has stayed true to its commitment", said Li.

Critics also say that USA withdrawal from the agreement will leave a leadership hole that will be filled by China or Russian Federation.
