Apple introduced a powerful iMac Pro

06 June 2017

Updates are available for the 21.5-inch non-Retina machine as well as the 4K iMac and 5K iMac.

The 21.5-inch model starts at $1,099, while the 4K version starts at $1,299.

"With major updates to iMac, and a refresh of our MacBook and MacBook Pro lines, the Mac is stronger than ever", said John Ternus, Vice President of Hardware Engineering at Apple.

Apple has confirmed that its iMac Pro would start at a whopping $4,999. The new smart home speakers got its fair share of the spotlight though there were other devices most had their eye one such as the MacBook Pro 2017.

IMac Pro: Apple reveals monster, VR-ready desktop
Although the spec bumps and slashed prices were welcome, it was the unexpected iMac Pro that really stole the show. For connectivity, you have an embedded Apple SIM and support for 802.11ac Wi-Fi and LTE Advanced.

Apple's Mac brand got a surprising amount of love during today's WWDC Keynote.

The new hardware includes improved Retina displays, Kaby Lake processors, and upgraded memory and storage options. That of course is a big jump in price over the existing 27-inch iMac, so you better get saving now for that leap in performance.

The standard slim MacBook also sees a new processor, with a choice of up to the 1.3GHz Core i7, while the iMac jumps to a staggeringly fast variation with up to 4.2GHz processors and now supporting twice the memory of the previous iMac generation.

The newly introduced iMac is a beast, as we mentioned earlier. This beast of a device can display 1 Billion Colors!

Visa Inc (NYSE:V), Bristol-Myers Squibb Co (NYSE:BMY)
Following the transaction, the senior vice president now directly owns 55,637 shares in the company, valued at $3,187,443.73. Portland Global Advisors LLC's holdings in Bristol-Myers Squibb were worth $397,000 at the end of the most recent quarter.

Apple refreshed its entire lineup of MacBooks with the latest Intel processors. "That's set to change in December when the iMac Pro launches with a 27" 5K display; 8-, 10-, or 18-core Intel Xeon processors; and Vega graphics. Its new design is said to deliver up to 80 per cent more cooling capacity than the iMac, without sacrificing the thin design.

The most exciting announcement regarding the iMac and MacBook Pro variations, at least to me, is the price drop, allowing consumers better access to more power. The 12-inch variant is priced at US$1,299 (AU$1,736) though folks may be well off going for the 13-inch model (with function keys) offered at the same price.

The iMac Pro is targeted at heavy users who demand more from their desktops. Also, you can stick as much as 128GB ECC RAM and 4TB SSD (3GB/s). For the first time ever on a Mac, iMac Pro features 10Gb Ethernet for up to 10 times faster networking. Workstation-Class Performance in an iMac Design Featuring next-generation Intel Xeon processors up to 18 cores, iMac Pro is created to handle the most demanding pro workflows. The iMac Pro runs a 1080p facetime camera.
