Stuart Hogg ruled out of remainder of Lions tour

13 June 2017

One final push secured a famous win for the Highlanders, pipping the British and Irish Lions 23-22 in a thriller in Dunedin.

The Highlanders, lacking nine frontline players, set out to play the match at a frenzied pace and the Lions resistance to that style was fully tested. A willing carrier who made two runs in the build-up to Sam Warburton's try, he was also at the forefront of the Lions' effective counter-ruck and made some important tackles.

Gatland said that the penalty count was decisive following the loss, which was the Lions' second in four games of the tour, and added that his side must cut out fundamental errors.

Warren Gatland admits the British and Lions took a step backwards with their performance against the Highlanders.

Athlone's Robbie Henshaw gets his second start for the Lions when he lines out in the 12 shirt against the Highlanders in the tourists' fourth match of their tour of News Zealand.

6th grader advances to final round of National Spelling Bee
VanWynsberghe spelled the word correctly on Wednesday morning during the second round of the preliminary competition. Rohan Rajeev, 14, an eighth-grader at Oklahoma Christian School, has been competing in spelling bees since he was 8.

Joseph and Jared Payne nearly wriggled free, before Iain Henderson punched through the middle and Warburton stretched home for a good try.

"I think to get ourselves in the position when we're 22-13 up, ultimately we should be trying to close out the game".

But he said he was disappointed to see Hogg leave.

The Highlanders drew first blood at Forsyth Barr Stadium through Waisake Naholo - one of a number of All Black internationals in the hosts' starting XV - and Joseph quickly hit back to leave an entertaining contest finely poised at 10-10.

Dunedin is known as the Edinburgh of the southern hemisphere and even the Highlanders measured walk on to the field had echoes of Scotland's deliberate slow march on to Murrayfield prior to the 1990 Six Nations grand slam decider. Biggar looped around his centre and passed to Joseph, who burst through a hole in the Highlanders' defence.

West Nile virus detected in Chino Hills mosquitoes
Water sources that can't be dumped should be treated with mosquito dunks or bits that contain Bti, which kills larvae. The virus is spread through the bite of a mosquito that had been feeding on an infected bird.

Just after halftime, Scottish winger Tommy Seymour brought his tour to life by outjumping Naholo to claim a Sopoaga cross-kick and scampering 40m to score. "They have picked a great squad, with a lot of guys with All Black experience, so we're looking forward to that challenge".

High ball: Waisake Naholo in action for the Highlanders.

The Lions had a serious injury setback when they lost lock Courtney Lawes to a head injury.

It was then the Highlanders turning the screw as they snubbed two shots at goal and instead opted for the corner, with the Lions holding firm until a lineout drive on the hour mark saw hooker Coltman power over at the tail.
