Local Synagogue Offers Aid Following Deadly London Apartment Building Fire

15 June 2017

"I do anticipate that the number of fatalities will sadly increase beyond those 12", Metropolitan Police commander Stuart Cundy said in a televised address.

On June 14, just after midnight, a fire began on the fourth floor of Grenfell Tower located in north Kensington, a district of west London.

Samira Lamrani said she saw a woman drop a baby from a window on the ninth or 10th floor to people on the sidewalk.

Ms Blakeman lives across the road and said she heard about the fire at 5am on the radio.

This being said, there have been countless interviews from residents of the area that have seriously questioned the maintenance of the building.

Its £8.7 million (9.9 million euro, $11 million) refurbishment was completed a year ago and included new cladding covering the whole of the exterior, which residents blamed for spreading the fire.

The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, noted that emergency services are working in hard conditions because of the size of the building and the scale of the fire.

She and her grandson sat outside the building, helplessly watching those trapped on higher floors. Others said they saw children being thrown from as high as the 15th floor.

He told the Press Association: "About 12 floors up I saw three children waving from a window and then there was just an explosion and they disappeared. Anything you can do to help will be much appreciated".

Nassima Boutrig, who lives opposite the building, said she was awakened by sirens and smoke so thick that it filled her home as well.

Resident Mickey Paramasivan, who was woken in his seventh-floor flat by a smell of burning plastic, said he had witnessed bad scenes as he escaped with his girlfriend and daughter.

Some reports have suggested that the buildings rain- screen cladding, installed as part of a 10-million-pound refurbishment work past year may have contributed to the speed with which the fire spread through the entire building.

A huge fire engulfs the Grenfell Tower. "I pray particularly for those who have suffered injury, those who have died, and all the residents who have are left without a home today, and the entire community that has been affected", he said in a statement.

"I just rushed outside", she said.

"We started giving him the liquids, I put pressure on his wound in his hip", Brooks said. Investigators need to look at what materials were used in the project and who approved their use, Ruane said.

He's a former high school and college baseball player and serves as a pitcher for the Republicans' congressional baseball team. DeSantis later told CNN that Duncan responded to the man that those practicing were Republicans .

"We tried to go back, but it was all black, so I had to come out of the building", Wahbi added.

"Residents continue to be evacuated from the tower block fire". Both before and since that time, residents have repeatedly complained about the safety of the block, but were assured that there was no problem. The fire brigade department issued a statement saying the fire had spread from the second floor to the top floor of the building.

Grenfell Tower on Wednesday morning.

Glocking said they had wanted rules to ensure that external insulation underneath cladding on tower blocks was fire resistant.

Paul Munakr, who lived on the seventh floor, told Sky News that no fire alarm sounded and he was only alerted to the fire by the screams of residents pleading for help and others telling them not to jump. We believe that our attempts to highlight the seriousness of this event were covered up by the KCTMO with the help of the [Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea] Scrutiny Committee who refused to investigate the legitimate concerns of tenants and leaseholders.

Michael Paramasivan, who was in his seventh floor flat with girlfriend Hannah West, 23, and her daughter Thea, five, said: "If we'd listened to them and stayed in the flat we'd have perished".

Grenfell Action Group, which advocates for residents in the block, claimed in a blog last November that Kensington and Chelsea Tenant Management Organisation was ignoring their fears about fire safety.

What GOP lawmakers saw at congressional baseball attack
A spokesman for Brady said the congressman had left the baseball field just before the shooting and was not injured. "Please join me in prayer for my friend @ SteveScalise and staff who've been involved in a shooting".

The Action Group expressed concern about the testing and maintenance of firefighting equipment and blocked emergency access to the site.
