Donald Trump being personally investigated for possible obstruction of justice

16 June 2017

According to today's Washington Post report, Special Consul Robert Mueller's probe of whether Donald Trump obstructed justice began days after James Comey was sacked as Federal Bureau of Investigation director.

Then-FBI director Robert Mueller speaks during an interview at FBI headquarters in Washington in August 2013. "Some maxed out, none wanted Trump to be POTUS".

"I recused myself from any investigation into the campaigns for President, but I did not recuse myself from defending my honor against scurrilous and false allegations", Sessions said.

The effort to muddy the waters surrounding the investigation is coming amid growing White House concern that the probe could detract from the president's agenda for months or years to come.

Until now, Mueller had drawn widespread praise from Republicans and Democrats alike. He added, "I think the best vindication for the President is to let this investigation to go on independently and thoroughly".

At least eight people were killed and 65 injured, including eight seriously, according to authorities. They say emblazoned on the walls of the residence were the Chinese characters for death and disaster.

Mueller's investigative team has expanded in recent weeks. "And I'm not going to speculate on what he will or will not do", Sekulow said. But, what it does is take this special counsel investigation all the way into the Oval Office - a place where it hasn't gone before. In general, it is impermissible to ask prospective government hires about their political leanings, including whether they've made donations. The Post said both men refused the president's request.

"I think it is a consideration the President has had, because (Robert) Mueller is illegitimate as special counsel", Ruddy told CNN's Chris Cuomo on "New Day" Tuesday.

In a letter to House Judiciary Committee Chair Bob Goodlatte last week, the 4th District Representative called on the Committee to invite the President to testify. Ruddy however, doubled down on the idea, telling NBC in a statement Spicer's statement was "bizarre" and doesn't deny his claim.

"Time to rethink", he tweeted Monday, citing Mueller's hiring decisions and Comey's admission that he'd instructed a friend to share with reporters notes he'd taken of his private conversations with Trump in order to force the appointment of a special counsel.

A person close to Trump's legal team also said earlier Tuesday that there have been no discussions about firing Mueller.

The gunman has already been named by law enforcement officials as James T Hodgkinson , and various reports said he had been shot. His van was parked in a YMCA parking lot adjacent to where the shooting took place, according to the report.

Rosenstein said Trump has not discussed the special counsel with him. Trump conformist Newt Gingrich requested the President to rethink Mr. Mueller's position, as reported by BBC. But Ruddy, a member of Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Fla., suggested during his PBS interview that maybe Trump isn't a student of history.

But in this particular case, Attorney General Jeff Sessions has recused himself from anything relating to the Russian Federation investigation.

Rosenstein confirmed that because Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from the Russian Federation probe, Rosenstein is the one who has the authority to hire and fire people.

Lawmakers also asked Rosenstein whether it was appropriate for Sessions to be involved in the firing of Comey given Sessions's recusal from the Clinton email investigation, which he offered because of his role on the Trump campaign. The reason why Sessions recused himself from the Russian Federation investigation was due to his conversation with Russia's ambassador to Washington during the campaign period.

The officials said Coats, Rogers and Ledgett would appear voluntarily, though it remains unclear whether they will describe in full their conversations with Trump and other top officials or will be directed by the White House to invoke executive privilege.
