Poll Shows Most in US Think Trump Meddled in Russia Probe

16 June 2017

U.S. Deputy Attorney-General Rod Rosenstein said Tuesday he's seen no basis for firing Robert Mueller, the former FBI Director he appointed as special counsel to oversee an investigation into potential coordination between the Trump presidential campaign and Russian Federation.

Just three days prior on October 28, 2016, former FBI Director James Comey said he was going to reopen the investigation into Clinton's e-mail server in an open letter to Congress. Trump used the reopened case to warn of the dangers of having a sitting president under investigation.

In fact, Trump said having a sitting president under criminal investigation would result in a "constitutional crisis".

Mr Comey also said he had told Mr Trump that he was not under investigation.

Before James Hodgkinson left his home in Belleville, Ill., in March, he sold almost everything he owned from his businesses. Roger Williams said that one of his aides, Zack Barth, was shot but was doing well and expected to fully recover.

The meeting comes a day after politicians questioned Justice Department officials about the probe and Mr Mueller's independence, and after a friend of Mr Trump said the White House was considering firing Mr Mueller. It is unclear how many others have been questioned by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

In a dramatic and packed Senate hearing, Sessions vowed to defend his honor "against scurrilous and false allegations" and declared it a "detestable and appalling lie" to suggest he was aware of or took part in any collusion between Russian Federation and the election campaign that sent Trump to the White House. A spokesman declined to comment when asked by the Post.

It is unclear whether Ledgett had direct contact with Trump or other top officials about the Russian Federation probe, but he wrote an internal NSA memo documenting the president's phone call with Rogers, according to officials.

A few days after the March 22 meeting, Trump spoke separately with Coats and Rogers and asked them to issue public statements to the effect that there was no evidence of coordination between his campaign and Russian Federation. The Post said both men refused the president's request.

Parts of the building were still seen as unsafe, and Cotton said specialist dogs would be brought into the search. Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has demanded "truth" for the victims and survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire .

Trump had received assurances from then-FBI Director James Comey starting in January that he was not personally under investigation.

Mueller briefed Senators Wednesday on his work. But Sessions said he had no recollection of that. "I was sacked, in some way, to change - or the endeavor was to change the way the Russian Federation investigation was being conducted".

"I don't think it's necessary for us to meet (again)", Burr said. Did he tell the president he was on legally problematic ground here, and did the president nevertheless persist?

Mueller is investigating alleged Russian interference in the 2016 USA presidential election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign.

Blimp crashes near US Open in Wisconsin
Open said on its Twitter account that the pilot was injured, and a medical helicopter was at the scene. The company Airsign told NBC News that the downed blimp is owned by them.

After Comey's testimony in which he acknowledged telling Trump that he was not under investigation, Trump tweeted that he felt "total and complete vindication". Trump - while not under oath, it's worth noting - has insisted flatly that he had never urged Comey to slow or stop the Flynn investigation.
