Ruddy: Trump Considering Firing Mueller, White House Doesn't Deny Claim

16 June 2017

There is no reason to fire the independent head of the FBI investigation into possible collusion between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign, the Justice Department's number two said Tuesday, APA reports quoting Anadolu agency. He also demurred on a question from Schatz about whether, if Rosenstein himself became a witness in special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation probe, it would be a conflict of interest for Rosenstein to remain involved.

Rosenstein would not define the scope of Attorney General Jeff Sessions's recusal from Justice Department investigations, stating only that his office controlled the flow of information and that he couldn't talk about any of it publicly without compromising ongoing probes. "Time to rethink." Fellow conservative Ann Coulter joined the push, tweeting, "Now that we know TRUMP IS NOT UNDER INVESTIGATION, Sessions should take it back & fire Mueller".

A senior political writer for the newspaper sounded the alarm in a piece titled, "Is Robert Mueller conflicted in Trump probe?"

"I think he is considering perhaps terminating the special counsel", Ruddy said.

Congressional staffer Zack Barth, who was shot, has also been released from a hospital, according to a family spokesperson. Hodgkinson opened fired at a congressional baseball practice Wednesday, seriously wounding Scalise and other staffers.

Both Republicans and Democrats praised Mueller when he was appointed the special counsel in May, calling him someone who would handle the allegations against the Trump administration in an unbiased and fair manner. The person demanded anonymity to discuss strategy on the sensitive matter.

Ruddy called the appointed of Mueller "a very highly unusual situation" and "politically driven", considering that no allegation of wrongdoing against Trump or any member of his staff has been alleged.

NPR reported on Friday that Mueller was being considered to lead the Federal Bureau of Investigation before being named special counsel.

Gingrich is correct that there is a certain partisan tilt to the team of top-notch investigators being assembled by the ex-FBI director: Jeannie Rhee, Michael Dreeben, Andrew Weissmann and James Quarles are renowned in their fields and have made repeated donations to Democrats. Susan Collins, R-Maine, Rosenstein said, "Senator, I'm not going to follow any order unless I believe those are lawful and appropriate orders".

Virginia shooting suspect identified
At 11:30 am Eastern, President Donald Trump delivered a statement about the shooting from the Diplomatic Room of the White House. The shooter, James Hodgkinson of Belleville, Illinois, apparently volunteered on Sander's 2016 presidential campaign.

"If President fired Bob Mueller, Congress would immediately re-establish independent counsel and appoint Bob Mueller", the California lawmaker tweeted. But Sekulow added that he "can't imagine the issue is going to arise".

It wasn't clear whether Ruddy, who speaks with the president often, was basing his remarks on a specific conversation with the president or entirely on Sekulow's comments. "Chris speaks for himself", Huckabee said. "With respect to this subject, only the president or his attorneys are authorized to comment". She asked whether Scarborough's sources flatly denied Ruddy's claim, but her co-host said he trusted his sources.

Peter Carr, a spokesman for Mueller, declined to comment on the issues Gingrich and others have raised.

"Special counsel Mueller may be fired only for good cause, and I am required to put that cause in writing".

Mr Rifkind also turned on the Prime Minister during his tirade as he mocked her for not winning a majority in the election. Instead of accepting defeat, however, May claims that she will continue to push for Brexit negotiations.
