One dead, 10 injured in London after vehicle hits pedestrians

"One man could be seen giving CPR to a victim in the street while another man's head injury was treated with a makeshift dressing", the BBC says.

The Metropolitan Police said they had been called to an incident involving a vehicle and pedestrians. No other suspects have been identified or are being investigated.

"The Met have deployed extra police to reassure communities, especially those observing Ramadan".

Police have said the crash caused several casualties and that one person has been arrested. Eight people injured were taken to three separate hospitals.

"I've been in touch with the mosques, police.My thoughts are with those and the community affected by this very bad event".

Eyewitness Abdulraman Aidroos told Anadolu Agency that the "white British man" had shouted "I am going to kill Muslims".

Someone in the crowd yelled to others not to harm the man while he was taken into custody.

Today's incident followed a series of attacks in Britain.

A suicide attack last month at a pop concert in the northern English city of Manchester killed 22 people, including children. "Police have confirmed this is being treated as a potential terrorist attack".

According to the Telegraph, "The Finsbury Park mosque was long known to have served as a clearing house for radical Muslims after Hamza arrived as imam in 1997".

One man died and 10 people were injured after a van drove into pedestrians near the mosque in Seven Sisters Road, north London, in the early hours of this morning. "Everybody was shouting: "A van's hit people, a van's hit people", she said.

Police have also denied rumors that a knife was involved.

The Muslim Council of Britain, the largest umbrella body representing Muslims in the United Kingdom, has condemned the incident as a "terror attack" on worshippers.
