Pence calls hiring of counsel 'routine'

19 June 2017

Pence's office announced on June 15 that the vice president has hired Richard Cullen, a partner at McGuireWoods LLP and a former United States attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, confirming a report by The Washington Post.

Cullen, for what it's worth, is the godfather of one of former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey's daughters.

With the special counsel investigation and congressional inquiries into Russia's involvement in the 2016 election beginning, everyone is looking for ways to protect themselves.

The announcement came after media reported that Trump was being investigated by special counsel Robert Mueller for possible obstruction of justice.

Mueller is leading the Russian Federation probe after being appointed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in the Department of Justice, which oversees the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Trump ultimately fired Flynn for misleading the vice president. Trump said, in an early morning tweet. They said they have made gains thanks to assistance from the USA, which dramatically increased support for the three countries following a sharp increase in the number of unaccompanied minors crossing the US border in 2014.

After Comey's firing, the administration gave differing reasons for his dismissal. He praised U.S. President Donald Trump's tough stance against illegal immigration, saying it was responsible for a more than 70 percent drop in illegal crossings of the U.S. -Mexico border since the beginning of his administration in January.

A spokesman for Mueller's team declined to comment.
