Finsbury Park terror attack suspect's mum and sister speaks out

20 June 2017

She went on to say that her son never talked about any terrorist attacks or about "bloody Muslims".

Police has described the attack as a "terrorist incident".

The suspect in the north London mosque attack that killed one person has been identified as a resident of Cardiff, Wales, who had previously voiced his hatred for Muslims, the media reported.

He reportedly shouted "I want to kill Muslims" as he drove a van into a crowd of worshippers outside the Finsbury Mosque.

"So we pushed people away from him until he was safely taken by police into custody and put into the back of the van".

When exactly is the first day of summer?
The word "solstice" is from the Latin "solstitium" from sol (sun) and stitium (to stop), meaning the sun standing still. There's more heating during our summer, making it hot, less heating during the winter, equating to cold air.

Speaking to BBC 4 Radio, the founder of the group Tell Mama, Fiyaz Mughal, said he had been at the center days before the attack to caution the community to vigilant during the Ramadan, a period in which Muslims are more visible.

Some pedestrians pushed the 47-year-old suspect to the ground, and Mahmoud, an imam from the Muslim Welfare House, jumped in and pleaded for calm.

Police arrested Osborne on suspicion of commission, preparation or instigation of terrorism including murder as well as attempted murder after a vehicle ploughed into a crowd of pedestrians near a north London mosque. "More information to follow when we have it", they Tweeted.

A spokesman said police investigations were continuing to "establish whether there is any link between his death and the attack".

"People were very angry", one witness, Saeed Hasm, told NBC News.

New al-Qaeda linked group claims responsibility for Mali resort attack
The group, led by a notorious Tuareg commander, was formed earlier in 2017 following a merger of local groups. In recent years, the extremists have become even more brazen, attacking sites frequented by Westerners.

"Do Muslims overall need to be more vocal in their opposition?" asked co-anchor Heather Childers.

Following a meeting with the chairman of the mosque, Mohammed Kozbar, Ms Dick stood with him to observe a short silence, and as he addressed the large crowd which had gathered, he praised the "great response" from the community. After running over several people, the van came to a halt and witnesses dragged him from the vehicle.

It was the third major incident in the capital this month, after the London Bridge attack and last week's devastating fire in the Grenfell Tower block, in which 79 people are thought to have died.

The incident happened outside the Muslim Welfare House, 100 metres (yards) around the corner from the Finsbury Park Mosque.

Despite the change in leadership and the focus on bolstering inter-faith relations, the mosque reported it had received a string of threatening emails and letters in the wake of the Paris attacks.

It's still not clear what Poroshenko will get for Ukraine from the meeting with Trump. Poroshenko said he hopes the two countries can engage in "effective collaboration".
