USA authorities are leading the investigation, but Canadian authorities have offered to assist.
Airport Director of Public Safety Christopher W. Miller said he was there shortly after the attack and put handcuffs on suspected attacker Amor M. Ftouhi after the stabbing. There may be evidence that Ftouhi wanted to launch a larger attack.
Gelios said authorities are also trying to piece together Fthoui's whereabouts since he entered the United States last week.
Ftouhi was charged with violence at an worldwide airport, an offence that can land him up to 20 years in prison.
At 9:38, Ftouhi allegedly stabbed the officer without any provocation, while yelling "Alluha Akbar", the complaint states.

Young said he headed to the airport when he learned about the stabbing yesterday.
White House press secretary Sean Spicer said President Donald Trump was briefed on the stabbing, and US Attorney General Jeff Sessions said he was "proud of the swift response" by authorities from both the US and Canada.
