Trump Finally Clarifies on Tapes of Comey Talks

25 June 2017

"I would like to keep her right where she is because our record is extraordinary against her, but we will see what happens".

With Mueller investigating Russia's meddling in the 2016 presidential election and its potential collusion with the Trump campaign - as well as possible obstruction of justice by Trump himself - the president maintained his innocence. "And I don't have any tape, and I didn't tape". Comey said he understood that to be a request to drop the probe. 21% of respondents, however, say they are likely to believe neither Trump nor Comey.

Mr Trump ended a month-long guessing game on Thursday by tweeting that he never made and does not have recordings of his private conversations with Mr Comey.

In his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Comey described Trump allegedly asking for the director's loyalty during a private dinner on January 27. Trump's version doesn't explain why he wouldn't have wanted Attorney General Jeff Sessions or son-in-law Jared Kushner as witnesses to the conversation.

Grassley said Comey, the former FBI director, told him, Feinstein and six other Senators in March that the president was not under investigation.

The Everton striker had another fine season in 2016/17, scoring 25 Premier League goals to finish runner-up to Tottenham's Harry Kane in the race for the Golden Boot.

"You've got to ask the question: Why is somebody threatening tapes other than to try to intimidate somebody?"

"I think the president has played the media like a fiddle for two and a half years", said Florida Sen. "Did some tapes exist that were harmful that have been destroyed?"

"I certainly think that the president would hope that the former director would tell the truth".

A core tension in any inquiry will be Comey's honesty and credibility versus Trump's. Trump accused Mueller of being bias in his appointment, accusing him of hiring all supporters of Hillary Clinton.

Asked point blank if Mueller should recuse himself from the Russian Federation probe, Trump said: "Well, he's very, very good friends with Comey, which is very bothersome".

He wasn't keen to deny them the opportunity to face the tourists and said the experience would be good for their careers. They are available for second test selection.

Conaway told reporters Friday morning that Trump's tweet was not a sufficient response. He has been known, for instance, to take the most benign of subjects-say, his budding relationship with Chinese President Xi Jinping-and turn it into a dissertation on his election win.

"I was devastated for her", said Kester, adding: "I was angry at how that was handled".

Trump appeared to leave open the possibility that recordings of their conversations exist, saying only that he did not create and is not in possession of any such tapes.

Trump and the White House went six weeks neither confirming nor denying the existence of any tapes.

"James Comey better hope that there are no "tapes" of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!".

Mr Comey has suggested that the tweet prompted him to ask an associate to release damaging information to The New York Times. That special counsel, former Federal Bureau of Investigation director Robert Mueller, is now reportedly investigating Mr Trump's own actions in a probe that could dog his presidency for the foreseeable future.
