Theme park rescue: Crowd catches girl in seven-metre fall from ride

A video of an unidentified 14-year-old girl dangling from a ride at Six Flags Amusement Park in NY has gone viral, according to CBS News. A group of men banded together to catch her, while another climbed a tree to remove branches which were impeding their rescue effort.

After being treated by Six Flags emergency medical personnel, according to News10, the girl was taken to Glens Falls Hospital and then to Albany Medical Center, where she is now being treated.

On Sunday, park officials noted they won't be running the gondola ride despite the fact that it is cleared for operation.

He looked up to see a young girl dangling about 25ft off the ground from a slow-moving gondola ride.

Footage shows a crowd of people assembling beneath her, ready to catch her if she fell. She's then carried off.

Luckily, she was caught, and subsequently treated by the medical team at the park.

The ride was stopped after the operator was told of a rider in distress, CBS reported.

"No-one wants to put himself underneath a body like that, but I couldn't stand by and watch".
