The Las Vegas Golden Knights got a steal in Johnathan Marchessault.

Las Vegas officially has their first professional sports franchise with the conclusion of the Vegas Golden Knights' expansion draft.

With their first expansion draft picks, Vegas selected Pickard, a goalie, forwards William Carrier, Cody Eakin, Jonathan Marchessault, Teemu Pulkkinen, Tomas Nosek, and defensemen Brayden McNabb, Jon Merrill, Luca Sbisa.

Vegas shouldnt start blocking off the Strip for the parade just yet, but Sin Citys new team is holding a remarkable hand after general manager George McPhees 37-player haul from the expansion draft and several subsequent trades. He also picked up two more first-round picks in the entry draft Friday night along with other selections, prospects and National Hockey League players. He expressed endless gratitude toward the Pens, who drafted him first overall in 2003, but also acknowledged it was time to move on. The event was held at the T-Mobile Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In constructing protection rules for this expansion draft, the National Hockey League hoped Vegas might boast a relatively formidable initial roster. Engelland, who signed a one-year deal with Vegas, has made his off-season home there ever since.

The 2017 NHL Expansion Draft will take place this week. They traded their second pick, the 45th overall, to Columbus for 6-2 power forward Keegan Kolesar.

Travis Kalanick , the combative and troubled CEO of ride-hailing giant Uber , resigned under pressure from investors. Rachel Holt, a fast-rising executive who heads Uber's North American operations, could be in the running.

"We like our team right now", McPhee said. It nearly feels silly to care about who was selected last night as anything more than trivia.

"That's where I wanted to go for myself", Hague said of the first round. "It's going to be great being part of a new organization".

"Man it's special, I don't really know what to say", Glass said. They believe in me, so I'm just going to prove them right.

The other second-round pick, 18-year-old center Jake Leschyshyn, comes from an National Hockey League pedigree.

All of the attention last night was on the former Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender, Marc-Andre Fleury, he wasn't the steal in the expansion draft.

Sidney Crosby was a finalist for the Hart Trophy, given to the league's MVP, and the Ted Lindsay Award, given to the league's most outstanding player as voted by the players.

Britain has suffered deadly terrorist attacks in the past few months, the most recent being the London Bridge car-ramming and stabbing attack.

"I always like to get out there", Fleury said. "I'm not too sure". Originally drafted by the Nashville Predators, he has since played for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was able to find that in Florida last season.

As a result of all the maneuvering in the expansion draft, Vegas had a total of 13 selections in last NHL Entry Draft, including three in the top 15 and three in the second round. And they took first-round picks, second-round picks and picks that they won't be making for another two years. McPhee and Foley announced each pick while sitting at a table on stage at the award ceremony. "Dave Prior, our goaltending director, watched these guys a lot and really was impressed with them". Players with less than two years of pro experience were exempt, and the Knights were required to take one player from each team.

The other selections were Nick Campoli, an 18-year-old center from Royal York, Ontario, in the sixth round, and Ben Jones, an 18-year-old center from the Niagara Ice Dogs, in the seventh round.

The Golden Knight's blue line will be the real issue with no player besides Marc Methot having game changing talent. "I'm so proud to be an Oiler, and so proud to play with the guys".

McPhee said he was happy and relieved as he assessed the Knights' draft. And we were ready for this draft.

"We were well prepared and ready".

Imagine all the kids watching Formula One today and seeing that kind of behaviour from a four-time world champion. The race was temporarily stopped after 22 laps because of debris littered across the Baku city circuit.

"We don't have enough kids in that age group, understandably, because the expansion process gives us one level of player and the draft gives us another", McPhee said. Each one needs to be handled individually. "They're going to be pleasantly surprised". It's better to overcook them than throw them in there raw.
