France's Macron honors U.S. forces in Bastille day celebration

President Donald Trump has saluted as US troops pass during the French Bastille Day parade commemorating the 100th anniversary of the American entry into World War I.

US President Donald Trump is well known for his inappropriate comments in public and he just added another stunner yesterday when he first met French President Emmanuel Macron's wife.

"It will ... give me great pleasure to have dinner together with you tonight", Macron added, on a day of official engagements also with his wife and with the U.S. first lady.

The French President said Donald Trump's presence in the country on Bastille Day was a sign of "a friendship that goes above and beyond time", adding: "Nothing will ever separate us".

The parade coupled traditional displays of military might with a look at wars past and present - and a nod to the US role in both.

"The US is extremely involved in the Iraq war", Mr Macron said, "I would like to thank the president for everything done by American troops in this area".
