MLB Rumors: Indians Acquire Right Fielder Jay Bruce In Trade With Mets

11 August 2017

Bruce is due to join his new team for a weekend series in Tampa Bay.

And sources indicated Thursday the Mets had a deal in place on July 31 that would have shipped Neil Walker to The Bronx, but the trade disintegrated because the Yankees had concerns over the veteran second baseman's medicals.

A man convicted of rape as a teen in a case that drew global attention will be part of the Youngstown State football team this year but won't be allowed to play in any games, the school said Wednesday in responding to criticism surrounding his participation.

The Yankees presumably leaked the news of their offer to make the Mets look bad, and if so, it worked.

Man City tops Premier League table based on bookmakers' odds
Although Conte has brought in striker Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid, he is finding it hard to sell another forward - Diego Costa. The champions had a close race to the finish with Tottenham Hotspur snapping at their heels till the last.

But now the Mets have saved money and have added another relief-pitcher prospect - the fifth they have acquired via trade the past few weeks.

The unexpected twist in this Bruce trade is that the Yankees reportedly showed a lot of interest in him as well.

Bruce has 29 home runs on the year, seven more than anyone now on the Tribe roster, seven fewer than the entire Indians outfield combined.

While the Duda trade falling through is easy to dismiss, the same cannot be said for the Bruce trade.

Taylor Swift is not here for your victim blaming
Mueller, his hair white compared to his image from the photo op, stared at a table while the singer-songwriter testified. Mueller sued Swift and others on her team, denying he groped Swift and claiming they cost him his job.

Ultimately, Cleveland was willing to take on all of Bruce's salary, which could have been the tipping point for the Mets.

Alderson also disputed the notion that dealing Bruce for Ryan - a hard-throwing but raw former 30th-round pick - was little more than a salary dump. I don't see (c) happening.

The Mets were in Philadelphia when the trade was made. "He's got a good arm". Then again, if you're taking on Bruce's entire salary, why are you giving up two actual prospects?

One thing to keep in mind: the Yankees are pretty annoyed with how the Bruce deal played out. The Mets were none too happy that the deal fell through and believe the real reason the Yankees backed out was because they had just acquired Sonny Gray.

U.S. warns N.Korea that nuclear drive could mean end of regime
Donald Trump claims he has renovated and modernised the country's nuclear arsenal, but experts say he's stretching the truth. Trump spoke after having a national security briefing with Vice President Mike Pence , National Security Adviser H.R.

Alderson stopped short of saying that the Mets treat the Yankees like most other teams. If the team goes into a slump they may find themselves on the outside looking in.
