The Aug. 21 solar eclipse, when passage of the moon completely blocks out the sun, will be seen first in OR and cut diagonally across 14 states to SC.

During an eclipse when the sun isn't totally covered by the moon, our star's brightness decreases significantly. We will be having a repeat of this event sometime this fall and Blount will tell program attendees about the science behind the eclipse and what kinds of data they gathered.
