CBS All Access Sets Record for Sign-Ups Thanks to 'Star Trek: Discovery'

25 September 2017

Like many, I have been anticipating the release of the new Star Trek series Discovery.

CBS All Access West Coast subscribers will have the opportunity to watch the premiere simultaneously to its East Coast broadcast premiere, which is expected to be around 8:30 p.m. Not just that, but Star Trek: Discovery is also taking a perhaps more "realistic" approach to its story and characters, grounding them in a way that aligns the series with 2017 Peak TV practices while also adhering - so far, anyway - to classic Trek tropes and themes.

The colorful LED lights were attached to spaceship, which was said to be roughly 50 feet in length and assisted by a Black Hawk helicopter.

WWE No Mercy Preview: Thoughts on Cena-Reigns, Lesnar-Strowman
Nia Jax made the most of the Women's Title match at No Mercy , and she looked unbelievable with the big bumps and big spots. RAW airs on The USA Network at 8:00 pm EDT tonight, and we will have a full recap as soon as the show is in the books.

Star Trek had depicted Klingons as largely unconcerned with their fallen until The Next Generation Season 1 episode "The Heart of Glory", which introduced the concept of Sto-vo-kor, the afterlife for the honored dead, guarded by the mytho-historical figure Kahless the Unforgettable.

Despite being outfitted with some interesting wrinkles, "Star Trek: Discovery" is an unspectacular addition to the existing fleet of "Trek"-branded series". This is a crew, and bridge, where Burnham is introduced to us by literally shoving another member of the crew off their own station, and most of the people we get to see speak seem to have some level of distaste for whoever they're talking to. On the other, it makes ideal sense to talk about them together: I can't think of another time when a new TV show has launched and, after less than an hour, asked viewers to pay for a streaming service they probably don't want in order to continue.

The first casualty of the series was Lieutenant Connors.

Search continues for quake survivors in Mexico
The military said the girl had spoken, managing to say: "I'm very exhausted ". "If someone made it up, it was them". Rubble from the building litters the streets as the rescuers crouch down to retrieve the survivors.

Both Discovery and Star Trek 2009 showed children growing up and learning on Vulcan, and doing so the same way: in little pods. "I thought it was a nice sort of nod to the fans and to the continuity of the original series". You've also got the After Trek aftershow in there, which we're all about just because we at CarterMatt are big fans of its host in Matt Mira from his time on the Nerdist Podcast. Long gone are the invisible barriers and rudimentary zaps of the saga's original forcefield design. Burnham is First Officer on the Shenzhou and is a human who had a Vulcan upbringing, thanks to the Vulcan Sarek.

On one hand, it's a bit unfair that Discovery is inextricably linked to All Access. "You're always looking for those continuity glitches", Bormanis explained, "but who's to say that they didn't have other styles of transporters on other kinds of starships back then?"

Saquon Barkley turned in an eye-catching performance in win over Iowa
After the game, Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz's reaction was disappointment with a soul-wrenching loss mixed with pride over the fight. The Hawkeyes recently lost 0-3 to Loyola University Chicago, and they open up Big Ten play against Penn State on September 22.
