New York Yankees Advance To ALDS

06 October 2017

With help from a dominate performances by Trevor Bauer on the mound and Jay Bruce at the plate, the Cleveland Indians took a 1-0 lead over the New York Yankees in the best-of-five series.

The Cleveland Indians play the New York Yankees in the postseason for the first time since 2007. Gary Sanchez finished 2-for-4 with a double and a run. David Robertson picked up the win as he threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, giving up three hits with one walk and five strikeouts. Before the season, if you had told me that the Yankees would be one of the Wild Card teams, I wouldn't have believed you. "You have to have the confidence in what you're doing". Colorado's Jon Gray got just four outs before he was pulled; he admitted after the game that he the moment got too big for him. I've done a lot of work in the offseason on that pitch. Bauer has saved many of his best starts for Progressive Field and he gets a big opportunity here to get Cleveland rolling in the right direction.

The right-handed Bauer did not yield a hit until Aaron Hicks' sixth-inning, opposite-field, one-out double off the left field wall. "I felt like when the moment arose, he attacked it".

As for Bauer, he predominately uses a heater-breaking ball combo but also slips in some cutters and changeups.

"I had good stuff".

England lucky to have Kane, says Hart
However, Southgate insists Kane has not been permanently awarded the captaincy and any decision over England's long-term captain is now on hold.

Francona had the magic touch, as his decision to play Jason Kipnis in center field led to the best defensive play of the game.

As a Sox fan, I would love to see a Sox-Yankees ALCS, but I just don't think the Yankees are there yet. Aaron Judge struck out three times. Cleveland's three pitchers combined for 14 strikeouts. He's really good. From all accounts, he's a really special young man.

And now, the Yankees hand the ball to 37-year-old CC Sabathia, the ex-Cleveland Indian who is an astonishing 9-0 this season in 10 starts following a Yanks' loss, with a 1.71 ERA.

That also helped chase Gray, who NY acquired July 31 in a deal with Oakland.

With the New York Yankees defeating the Minnesota Twins, this year's divisional round is shaping up to be one of the most loaded in terms of win totals in recent history. "Then, if I was still in the game, do it again in the second inning and the third and on until I was taken out of the game". Bruce, who could have been a Yankee at the trade deadline, added a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Carrasco, like Kluber, won 18 games and struck out more than 220 hitters this year.

Senate panel holds first hearing to explore fix for DACA
Those whose DACA expires March 6 or later will only be permitted to finish out the term of their current authorization. Trump, a Republican, is expected to announce on Tuesday that he's going to end the program with a six-month delay.

As the Indians take a 1-0 lead over the Yankees in the ALDS with a 4-0 win, a few quick thoughts...

"It's a good thing he showed up tonight", Francona joked.

"I think that's kind of the beauty of it all is tonight it was me, (today) it could be any of those other 24 guys on the roster", Bruce said.

Red Sox over Dodgers in seven: The Sox don't stack up well against numerous other postseason teams on paper, but the bet here is that ace Chris Sale seizes his first chance at a postseason spotlight and brings glory back to Boston.

"It couldn't have gone any better for us". Gray got ahead of Carlos Santana 0-and-2 but he lined the next pitch to right to put runners at the corners. "I never really strayed from that".

Ford to cut costs $14 bln, invest in trucks, electric cars -CEO
Last week it announced a partnership with ride-hailing app Lyft to look at how it could connect customers with self-driving cars. The future models would only offer 96 variations meaning less investment on the designing, making and storing of parts.

This still is the Indians' series to lose, and the Yankees can't expect a barrage of home runs from Judge and co.
