Top five announcements from Google for India event

In another big win, Hotstar, India's leading video streaming platform, has been named in the Most Entertaining Apps of 2017 by Google Play, the largest global app store for Android mobile devices. Google Go, a new app to find information, optimises data by up to 40 percent, weighs less than 5MB in size, and has a simple, tappable interface. Android Oreo (Go) is essentially made for entry-level Android smartphones with less than 1GB RAM and hence uses less storage space, less memory and still runs smoothly. Google says that there were four goals they wanted to fulfill during when building Android Go. The app also recognizes and help remove the spams and duplicate images from the Android smartphone.

Google's app that helps Android users manage space on their smartphones and send files to people while offline is now available globally.

Google Assistant is finally getting the third-party integration in India.

Google Play Store: A tuned version of the Google Play Store that allows you to download any app, but also highlights the apps created to work best on your device. At the event, the tech giant announced several new India-first products and features including Android Oreo (Go edition).

The American company hopes a better response for this new VR after the Oculus Rift headset, which was launched in March 2016. Also present during the conference is the next-generation virtual reality headset codenamed Santa Cruz .

When the iPhone X launched, one of the major complaints I heard from users wasn't what was wrong with the device itself, but what was wrong with the apps they use on a day-to-day basis, namely Gmail which has proven to be a nuisance. The app is available to download for free on the Google Play Store, and works with Android 5.0 or higher. This allows for better control over apps that consume data in the background. Also, the Android Oreo (Go Edition) will be launched with Android 8.1 this month.

In the announcement post, Google also notes that devices running the new software will make a debut on the market in the coming months, although no other details on the matter were provided. The company had promised to roll out a light version of Android and it has now released the OS to manufacturers and developers under the title Android Oreo Go Edition or simply, Android Go.
