LG Introduces 88-inch 8K OLED Display Ahead Of CES 2018

The company revealed a prototype of a 65-inch OLED TV that can easily roll up.

After announcing the world's first 88-inch OLED 8K resolution television, South Korean display technology pioneer LG unveiled another innovative TV with extreme bendable capabilities.

The new Sony A8F 4K HDR OLED TVs is the successor of the a year ago launched A1E BRAVIA OLED 4K HDR TV. Dubbed the A8F, this new Sony OLED TV keeps numerous features that were popular from the original model, including the stunning display and Acoustic Surface speaker, but Sony has also toned down the design a little to make it suit every environment.

Elsewhere at the show, LG has also been showing off a 65-inch rollable OLED TV, which can be rolled up like a enormous newspaper, a massive 88-inch 8K OLED screen and a 4K UHD projector.

If you try to roll up your current television set, the best case scenario is a voided warranty, so how is this possible?

The display in its rolled up state isn't visible given that it remains hidden within a box that has the looks of a sound bar. You can also use it to search food recipes and make video calls while you cook.

Rollable OLED Display Is Back and It's Bigger Than EverAlthough LG did not address it during it's CES press conference on Monday, the company is demoing a new rollable 65-incj OLED display prototype that builds on the 18-inch OLED display previously at CES.

LG hopes that this sort of display will allow customers to enjoy bright, hi-res content "anytime, anywhere". LG has also upgraded in the audio category from the current standard 2.1 channel sound to 3.1 channel sound.

The flexibility was meant to allow consumers to control the angle of curvature of the display via a remote. The panel is made up of millions of micro-sized chips that emit light individually. Sony says it has done work to improve motion fluidity on the X900F series with a "new technology" it refers to as X-Motion Clarity, which "keeps fast action images smooth and life like".
