U.S. authorities said to launch Apple battery inquiry

Both the Department of Justice and Securities and Exchange Commission are presently looking into whether Apple has violated security laws with its software updates that secretly enabled iPhone slowdown.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Apple confirmed that it had received questions from U.S. government agencies and was in the process of responding to them.

Last month, omnipotent tech corporation Apple admitted that it had indeed been slowing down performance in older iPhones, blaming certain demands on lithium-ion batteries "which can result in the device unexpectedly shutting down to protect its electronic components".
