Gingrich on Pelosi Marathon Speech: That's 'What Freshmen Do'

10 February 2018

The House minority leader began her speech at 10:04 local time (4am NZT) - and did not finish until the evening.

"We have a moral responsibility to act now", she said.

As of this writing, House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi is in the eighth hour of a speech in defense of Dreamers.

She was wearing four-inch-heels while delivering the speech and only sipped water, sources said.

As a massive bipartisan budget deal moved towards a vote Thursday, temperatures were rising on the left, where Democrats were fuming that - once again - immigration was being left behind.

The California Democrat followed her surprise announcement that she would oppose a budget deal to avert a government shutdown with a talk-a-thon to protest congressional inaction on legislation to protect DREAMers, undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States when they were children.

Figure skating - Uno 'relaxed' at being in Hanyu's shadow
Nagasu is the third American woman to ever land a triple axel. "It's all about percentages and how I feel", he explained. It first appeared in the Summer Olympics of London 1908 before becoming a staple winter competition in Antwerp, 1920.

"Speaker Ryan has already repeatedly stated we intend to do a DACA and immigration reform bill - one that the president supports", Strong said in a statement.

Because Pelosi had more important things to worry about: like the people out there in much more uncomfortable positions that needed her to plead for their protection. Rescinding DACA will affect some 800,000 Dreamers, including hundreds of young Indian adults who face the threat of deportation.

"They've. been blaming other people for not doing the right job".

"Our plea to the speaker is for us, for ourselves, to honor the values of our founders", she continued.

Regardless, Pelosi's actions on the floor showed that Democrats are still capable of resistance, and sometimes the masses just need a little reassurance in order to carry on to the next step of the fight.

All House Democrats are supportive of Dreamers.

Winter Olympics ban on Russians upheld
World cross-country skiing champion Sergey Ustyugov and world biathlon gold medalist Anton Shipulin will also miss the Olympics. North Korea's state news agency has quoted a foreign ministry official dismissing the possibility of any meeting.

"She kind of threw us under the bus", he said. Pelosi said he worked 30 hours a week at his family's restaurant while he was in high school and still graduated with a 4.3 grade point average. "We can get this budget deal done and then we can focus on getting this immigration deal done".

While the budget deal reached on Wednesday also includes language that would provide funds for infrastructure, Pelosi said the only reason Republicans added such funding was to get members of the House Freedom Caucus to vote for it.

The Democratic leader in the US House of Representatives has broken records with an eight-hour speech on the House floor. "We can do something today to at least make whole the children".

The House Tuesday passed legislation to keep the government running through March 23, marrying the stopgap spending measure with a $659 billion Pentagon spending plan, but the Senate plan would rewrite that measure. But both Democratic liberals and GOP tea party forces swung against the plan, raising questions about its chances just a day before the latest government shutdown deadline.

House rules allowed the party leader's one-minute speech time to be extended indefinitely as long as she did not sit down or even take a restroom break.

Cavaliers deal guard Dwyane Wade back to Heat
In an exclusive interview with CBS4, Dwyane Wade Sr. says he knew something was up when he talked to his son Wednesday night. With Wade's return coming shortly after the Heat debuted their new Miami Vice style jerseys, it was really a ideal storm.
