South Africa vs India: What is a Pink ODI?

11 February 2018

Shikhar Dhawan completes his 26th ODI fifty as India take control of the match. Despite the availability of hours and hours of footage and scientific analysis system, the South Africans - the pioneers in using technology in the game - have failed to decode the wrist movements of the two spinners. The Times of India has reported that India has now taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the six-match series. The pitch, they said, would not influence the course of the match in any great fashion.

A final decision will be made on Saturday as to whether De Villiers has recovered sufficiently to play in the fourth match at the Wanderers Stadium - live on Sky Sports Cricket from 10.55am.

Kagiso Rabada and Lungisani Ngidi were the best bowlers for South Africa.

Shikhar Dhawan was definitely in a celebratory mood, scoring a hundred in his one-hundredth One Day International.

Dhawan and Kohli then stabilised the innings as they took India to 178/1 in 31 overs, from 20/1 in 4 overs. The gamble is more likely to pay off rather than laying out a dry wicket which is bound to assist the spin twins- who've ran through the inexperienced South African lineups.

RBC Capital Markets reiterated its outperform rating for the company's shares, citing optimism over its data center business. The lowest price the stock reached in the last trading day was $53.23 and compares with the $42.26 52-week low.

The men in blue led by Indian Skipper, Virat Kohli won the first ODI by six wickets.

South Africa finally arrived in the contest.

It was the third successive big partnership between Dhawan and Kohli. In short, the game was still on.

Amla and Markram opened for South Africa, both getting decent starts but falling for 33 and 22 respectively.

"We're not panicking, hitting more balls - it's not panic station".

SA seek change in direction as De Villiers returns
The fourth ODI of the series is the sold out pink game at the Wanderers, since its inception the Proteas have not lost a Pink ODI. India are expected to stick with an unchanged side after winning comprehensively in Durban, Centurion and Cape Town .

South Africa woefully struggled to get their act right in the matches gone by. JP Duminy and David Miller have played for the Proteas, and in fact in the Indian Premier League, long enough not to be entranced by Chahal or Yadav.

It's not very South African to go sifting for positives in the aftermath of defeat, but this could well be a cleverly disguised blessing for the Proteas.

Debutant Heinrich Klaasen lasted six runs while David Miller tried settling in before Jasprit Bumrah returned to have him out caught behind on 25 as South Africa lost half their side on 129.

That was until Miller and Klaasen made a decision to show them otherwise. Miller scored 39 of 28 and 43 of 27.

Kohli took a relatively sedate 119 balls to reach his 34th one-day worldwide hundred, hitting only seven fours, but added another five fours and two sixes off 40 more balls in a blazing finish to the innings. It was one of those special Dhoni stumpings once again, with the batsman not even given an opportunity to attempt a return back to the crease as MSD dislodged bails in no time. When Poonam came back in the 44th to bowl her ninth over, she dropped a return catch off van Niekerk, who subsequently unleashed a flurry of drives and sweeps - some while falling on her knee - and peppered the square-leg boundary for quick runs.

But inevitably investors took advantage of the sharp drop in prices to come back into the market, sending the key indexes higher. The housing industry is solid and manufacturing is rebounding. "I don't see the possibility of a recession any time soon".
