26 February 2018

The Nokia 8 Sirocco is yet another Android One smartphone announced by HMD Global at this year's MWC.

HMD Global has launched the all new Nokia 8110 4G feature phone.

The Nokia 8 Sirocco adopts the 12/13 megapixel dual-camera unit of the new Nokia 7 Plus, which should prove to be a decent improvement. Nokia 7 Plus packs with Dual rear camera of 12MP + 13MP and front 16MP makes it ideal for shooting some high quality pictures. Screen sizes will likely remains same - Galaxy S9 might get a 5.8-inch display, Galaxy S9+ might get a 6.2-inch display, both with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 660 processor coupled with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. Nokia 1 comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage which is further expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. The phone is on the upper side of the midrange scale and rocks an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor, capable of reaching 2.2 GHz clock speeds. The Nokia 8 comes with curved glass to the left and right of the screen, mimicking Samsung's Edge approach with its handsets, and a glass back that meats with the edges of the devices and sandwiches a metal band around the handset.

It's Hard To Imagine How Armed Teachers Might Change Schools
A Twitter user whose profile said she is a Pittsburgh teacher posted a sign promising "to fight for my students and colleagues". Trump is calling the episode "a real shot to the police department" and says this "could have been prevented".

The entry-level Nokia handset's biggest USP is that it runs on Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition) and will come with stripped down and optimised apps like Gmail Go and YouTube Go among other things.

The Nokia 7 Plus will be available in April for around $450. Recent renders have suggested the phone will run on Android One, have a thin-bezel display, and sport a dual camera setup on the back. The pro camera application will provide manual control over aperture, exposure, white balance etc. and provide real-time previews for users to see what they're getting. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo. It also supports USB-C fast charging.

A considerable step up is the "All New" Nokia 6, which replaces last year's model. It has a huge 3 800mAh battery and will go on sale in April for €399 (R5 700 before taxes).

The original phone shown below had a monochrome display, but the refreshed edition has arrived with a 2.4-inch QVGA color display that supports a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. Android Go has a pure and clean layout with no customised UI or skins.

In plain english that's about as good a display as you'll find on any smartphone, and most flagship TVs for that matter.
