Baker Mayfield, Josh Rosen both say they're best QB in the draft

04 March 2018

Another quarterback linked to the Cardinals in mock drafts was Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield.

But there is just so much to like about the Heisman Trophy victor, and the Patriots should consider him a potential successor to Tom Brady, who turns 41 in August.

"When I got tackled by the cops in Arkansas, I tell the true story", Mayfield said.

"I think if anyone is going to turn that franchise around, it would be me", Mayfield said when asked about going to the Cleveland Browns, who have No. 1 and No. 4 overall picks in April. Still, their every pass on Saturday will be scrutinized closely as QB-needy teams try to figure out which ones they like the best and how early they have to consider drafting them. "And that's the part of the process that comes into play right now as we're interviewing these guys for the first time and we'll spend time with them this spring on their campus and potentially at our facility on the 30 draft-prospect - visits". "It (the talk) is just more motivation and I'm going to show them how good I am".

Mayfield was in full form and rare form indeed.

And he can be a hard act to follow.

Arsenal directors giving up on manager Arsene Wenger
We were superior to Arsenal's team. "Last season we won our last few games and we have been able to carry that on", he says. Even one of Wenger's former players, Martin Keown, has urged Arsenal to "throw in the towel" for the Frenchman's own good.

"Well, Jordan seems just to know everybody and it's really cool to have him as our quarterback coach, " said Allen. While only so much can be gained from watching players throw routes on air, with no defenders on the field, it's a live look at their arm strength and arm talent in a high-pressure environment.

Jackson finds himself in a vastly different situation. "Not the same as college". So, yeah, there's a line to be drawn and I've had my lessons that I had to go through the hard way, obviously.

Still, the guys with the hardware might have to take a backseat to a pair of California kids.

Josh Rosen is viewed by many as the top pro-ready quarterback in the 2018 draft, and he has an explanation for that. When asked if he considered skipping the throwing drills at the combine - a la Darnold - he shrugged.

Rosen's time in Westwood was defined as much by his proclivity for creating headlines away from the field.

As for the other Josh, "I think Josh Rosen (of UCLA) is the most natural thrower of the group and maybe go back to Sam Bradford before I see a quarterback that throws it as well as he does, as naturally as he does", Mayock said.

B1G Ten Tournament Preview: Buckeyes, Wolverines Set For Title Game Rubber Match?
Minnesota (15-17) ended an terrible season, filled with off-court issues and injuries, by losing 14 of its final 16 games. But Michigan ended Iowa's hopes for an NCAA Tournament berth with a 77-71 win on Thursday in Madison Square Garden.

"I think if you can get to three, four reads into your progression you give yourself more opportunities to get the ball down the field", he said.

Louisville's Lamar Jackson, the 2016 Heisman victor, needs to prove he's a better pro prospect throwing the ball than catching it.

So, this might sound unusual, but Josh Allen is living the dream.

"What makes me the best option?"

Rosen had five games this past season with at least three touchdown passes and five 400-yard passing games. With the No. 6 pick in the draft and no set plans at quarterback, the Jets could ultimately be the team to take that bet. "Teammates want you to be yourself every day so you're that reliable rock that they can count on". There are options in free agency and there are options in what is regarded as a quarterback-rich National Football League draft, and that makes this offseason far different than the norm for franchises starved for help at the sport's most important position. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.75 seconds, third among quarterbacks, though Jackson didn't run.

The other player to match or exceed those totals was tight end Vernon Davis in 2006.

The Office of Personnel Management closed all federal offices in the area for the day, while the Smithsonian museums also closed. Stewart lost power Thursday night. "If you're in one of those areas, you need to get out". "The snow is pretty wet and heavy".

"It doesn't matter. You see guys like Tyrod Taylor, Brees, Russell Wilson - they've proven that it doesn't matter". And there are a lot of GMs and head coaches talking about that right now.
