'Remarkable' Cech shuts out Deeney as Arsenal beat Watford

12 March 2018

The Gunners were able to end their three-game losing streak in the Premier League with a 3-0 victory over Watford on Saturday, and Deeney missed a penalty - to the delight of Arsenal fans and Bellerin.

The under-fire manager's first victory came against Blackburn Rovers way back in 1996, when Ian Wright scored twice in a 2-0 win at Ewood Park.

The playmaker hit the half-century in the eighth minute of the Emirates Stadium encounter, with his looping free-kick headed home by Shkodran Mustafi for Arsenal's 1,000th home goal of the Premier League era. But I wanted absolutely to win this game and it was hard, but overall, it gets us a little bit out of that negative spiral that we were in.

The win moves Arsenal to within 10 points of Tottenham, ahead of their match against Bournemouth later on Sunday.

The duo are among six changes with Wenger having one eye on their Europa League last 16 second leg tie against Milan on Thursday holding a 2-0 lead.

"We have still some work to do, but we are on a good way".

For the experienced Cech, it was his first penalty save since 2011 when playing for Chelsea against Fulham.

"It's quite fortunate that it's against Deeney", Wenger said.

"He went, in one week, from hell to heaven".

Nearly immediately, Watford were handed a lifeline when Pereyra knocked the ball passed Ainsley Maitland-Niles and tumbled over.

Gov. Rick Scott signs compromise gun control bill
"I want students to be safe, but I want them to have their voice of advocacy as well", he said . Until the Parkland shooting, Scott was championed by the NRA as a defender of gun rights.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang fluffed two good chances in the first half and "playmaker" Henrik Mkhitaryan once again looked clumsy. They are certainly two monkeys he will be happy to get off his back.

"I always try to deliver my best in every game as I hope that the team achieves something this season", he added.

The physical battle against the Watford attack was a bit overwhelming for him but he stuck to his task and saw out the game comfortably.

A superb ball to find Mustafi for Arsenal's first and was involved in nearly every attack the Gunners put together on the night.

Alex Iwobi: Impressed with his hold-up play during the game, but was disappointing with his crossing once more.

Cleveland Browns trade for Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry, per reports
Landry spent the last four seasons with the Dolphins after the team took him in the second round (63rd overall) in the 2014 draft. Once the season was over rumors began to swirl that the two sides could not come up with a suitable contract.
