Durant's clutch shot cemented Golden State's 110-102 victory and put them up 3-0 in the NBA Finals with Game 4 to be played in Cleveland.
"Obviously, we haven't had many playmakers throughout the course of the season", James said.
"I don't want to see LeBron: the mercenary", he continued.
The Cavs weren't the one-man team they often seem to be in the first half, with James, Smith and Love all scoring in double digits as Love led the way with 15 points to go with 10 first-half rebounds.
"Well, this is the beauty of this team and the luxury that we have of having multiple big-time scorers", said Steve Kerr.
"It was like deja vu watching him hit that shot again", Cavs forward Kevin Love said.
Justin Trudeau: Donald Trump's comments on Canadian steel industry 'insulting'
In response, Beijing vowed to retaliate against USA exports to China with a matching value. "Those days are over", he said. Trump changes his mind often enough that United States allies and rivals alike hope he'll do just that on the duties.
Durant was an efficient 15-of-23 from the field and 6-of-9 from 3-point range.
James scored 33 points and Kevin Love added 20 for the Cavs, who have fallen into a hole in which no team has ever emerged.
The Warriors promptly erased that six-point deficit when the second half opened, tying the game after less than two minutes of game time. Stephen Curry (1-of-10 from 3) and Klay Thompson combined to shoot 7-for-27. Part of the beauty of watching Durant in Oklahoma City was knowing he could go for 40-plus at any time.
But the Warriors improved to 10-2 against the Cavaliers since Durant joined Golden State before last season.
But it's nearly impossible to come up with a scenario that doesn't involve an injury to Curry or Durant and results in the Cavs beating the Warriors four times in seven games.
"You actually are trying to get me to say something."To move on from him and others though may lead to Cleveland giving up Tristan Thompson too and I am all for that. I was like yelling the wrong thing. Huge flames shot from the scoreboard.
Alexander Zverev says coaching code violation was ridiculous
At 7-6 in the closing tiebreaker, he pushed a backhand long. "It was a fourth-round match and everyone is playing good now". Alexander Zverev made his long awaited first grand slam quarterfinal, and no one can say the German did it the easy way.
The high water mark was Curry going off for 33 points and a Finals-record nine three-pointers in Game 2. The Warriors are 8-18 ATS in their last 26 games following a win and 1-1 ATS in their last five games overall. We're all grown men.
But the Warriors are just never that easy to put away.
"We know we can beat this team and we have the confidence to do that", Lue said. In that Game 3 win at The Q, the Warriors withstood poor shooting games by their All-Star backcourt - leaning on Kevin Durant, who poured in 43 points to push the Wine & Gold to the edge.
"It's a different game, different season", Durant said. I mean, that's what he does.
"We aren't done playing basketball yet, so I don't really look at these as defining moments, "Durant told reporters. I don't want to downplay anything, but I don't want to act like this is the end of the road". And they won one game in the 2017 Finals. In the end, people will remember.
Until then, however, Golden State will continue to win and to make the NBA Finals a bit less entertaining than they ought to be, if not downright boring. A good night from Cleveland's supporting cast isn't even as good as a below-average night from Golden State's. All right. There it is.
LeBron James leads Cleveland Cavaliers to finals with victory over Boston Celtics
The possibility existed that a loss Sunday would have been James' last game with the Cavaliers . "That's all that matters". That's despite his Cavs team undergoing several roster changes throughout the season and incurring injuries along the way.
"The margin of error is very low", James said. Give the ball to Curry and let him unleash the Warriors heavy 3-point shooting offense. "So there it is".
