Protesters Across US Warn Trump Against Derailing Mueller Probe

09 November 2018

'I don't know Whitaker, ' Trump told reporters on the South Lawn of the White House as he headed to Paris.

United States media sources have claimed special counsel Mueller is on the verge of claiming his biggest scalp yet as he readies an indictment against Donald Trump Junior.

Gonzales said if a decision is made to curtail or end the Mueller probe, that shouldn't be made by the acting attorney general, but someone within the normal lines of the chain of authority, either the deputy attorney general or the solicitor general.

They insisted on anonymity to comment on conversations they were not authorized to describe. Mueller and Trump's lawyers have negotiated for months about a possible interview, with no agreement in sight. And did his campaign have advance knowledge of illegally hacked Democratic emails?

But if anything, the election aftermath has featured even hotter controversy than before, whether over Mueller or Trump's other favorite bugbear - the media.

White House adviser Kellyanne Conway is setting the record straight about Attorney General Jeff Sessions' resignation. The Senate Judiciary Committee advanced a bill in April that would allow a special counsel who was sacked to challenge that action in court.

Bolton also cited China's massive intermediate-range missile capability as another key concern. The ambitious treaty aimed to eliminate an entire class of nuclear weapons delivery systems.

Given that Trump publicly demanded his last attorney general stop Mueller, and that Whitaker has publicly called for Mueller's last supervisor to reign him in, this seems like a fair question. By replacing Rod Rosenstein with just-named Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker as special counsel Robert Mueller's boss on the investigation, Trump has undercut the independence of the investigation. Nobody Is Above The Law said it wants Whitaker to recuse himself from supervising the investigation.

A clear focus concerns Stone, a longtime political dirty trickster.

There should be no special counsel investigation because what about Obama. For this reason, as one of us co-wrote for Lawfare on Wednesday, "i$3 f Whitaker either does not obtain an ethics opinion from career officials or if he departs from that guidance, that would be a serious red flag".

But since then, Graham has become a strong Trump supporter.

Bannon and other Stone associates have been questioned, and multiple witnesses have appeared before the grand jury. "It is imperative that the Administration not impede the Mueller investigation". Previously he was a conservative legal commentator who was critical of the scope of Mueller's probe.

Some senior Republicans, such as former presidential candidate and Utah Senator-elect Mitt Romney, have urged Whitaker to allow the Mueller investigation to run unimpeded.

The mayor, who has gotten into it with the president on Twitter, added: "It is a shocking abuse of power".

Demonstrators characterized Trump as a dictator who must be held in check by Congress.

But it's unclear what additional charges prosecutors are pursuing and how much of it pertains to the president personally.

"When this happened yesterday, people started mobilizing very quickly", said Margaret Foley, the communications director for Nasty Women Get Shit Done PDX. Trump defended the ban by saying: "This is a very sacred place".

"Pressuring and forcing Attorney General Sessions to resign is an unacceptable effort to interfere with the chain of command in the Russian Federation investigation", Casey said.

The protest was part of the nationally organized "Nobody is Above the Law" movement, which vowed to hold protests nationwide if President Donald Trump took any steps that could jeopardize special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation. And not everyone is convinced he needs to.
